I expected a gorgeous Empress Celene like in the book The Masked Empire, i do understand she aged and around her 40's (or 50's not quite sure i hate math) but if you look at real life aged bit celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Kate Beckinsale, Alyssa Milano to name a few are jaw-drop gorgeous Ladies in their 40's why not Celene?
Yea I know with modern technology stuff but Magic also count right and Celene have access of unlimited magic sort of (she is the most powerful woman in thedas politically)
What do you guys think?

Yea making a Heroic Guy is Easy but creating a woman is quite the opposite. You might be right...when i look at the character artworks specially Leliana and Josephine theyre like oh **** i will die if i dont romance them both but the engine tells otherwise
Edit:
I know its not the developers fault after all theyre not the ones created the engine

I thought Cassandra, Josaphine and Morrigan all look beautiful. Sometimes Cassandra's expressions and smiles were downright adorable and made her seem even prettier. My opinion, though.

I thought she looked good. They did a great job on making her appearance exactly how I imagined she'd be... Like the cover of ME. They did a good job with Florianne too, even with that hair.

Yea i guess... so she looked like a French Queen Elizabeth I..the irony right
but still i pictured Celene more as the darling of the court look
@Chaos
Yea thanks for pointing out. I forgot about Morrigan she look drop-dead gorgeous in inquisition compared to her first appearance. that makes me more sad they can make a totally hot MILF why not Celene:C

I expected her dress to be a lot more impressive at least. It was so mundane with the only fancy part being that thing on her back.

I think Celene looks fine - like an aging beauty - but the dress is a let-down. The Orlesian clothes and masks were definite let-downs. (And those shoes!)

Hmmm why? Why should all women represented by jaw droppingly attractive? No one ensures all the male characters are drop dead hotties. Why can't a woman be a court darling, powerful awesome, or awesomely evil and not be gorgeous?
Mostly because they described her that way in the novel. It'd be different if she wasn't described as one of the most attractive women in Orlais. Right now she can't even compete with background NPCs.

Sorry if my expectation offended you
but if you look at Celene's Portrait you can see that though she aged a bit you can still see how beautiful she is.
in short the portrait is so different to the Celene Model (its also an issue to Josephine and Leliana having different portrait representation) do they do this on purpose? so sad :C

Any random (female but some male also) JRPG NPC would make her look like a schoolmarm or serving girl with their over the top extravagance lol.

I suspect she's rather aged. It's been 10 years since DAO and about 20 years since Cassandra was appointed right hand of the Divine. So you gotta figure that her and Liliana are in their mid to late 30s (though they appear to have aged well). So I'd expect the empress to be even older.

And i dont want to start a topic about how the engine massacred Divine Justinia V ...that lovely lady deserves more :C
Edit:
if you checked the DA wiki they mentioned in a trivia that Patrick Weekes (a writer for BioWare, and author of Dragon Age: The Masked Empire) gave a non-canonical estimate of Celene's age at about 36.

Er, you do realize that was the result of the magical torture she was going through, and not the game engine right?

My reaction to the Divine dying (which I don't consider a spoiler at this point, since they confirm it within the first 5-10 minutes) was to declare "I called it!" When I read the insistence that there was a lot of strong female characters (and that there was too much of a focus on the lack of female companions,) I had a feeling that they were doing to do something like that. ![]()
Oh and Fiona was mentioned as an example too of a "strong female leader of Thedas." At least they didn't kill her off right after you clicked New Game, only made her look like one of the biggest idiots in Thedas. She may have had fairly decent reasons, but I think her brains got replaced with an easily scared rabbit.
Note that I've always been indifferent to Fiona, but even I thought the Idiot Ball BioWare handed her in the game was too big.

Loghain beg to differ.

So yeah really, how a NPC look depends only on Bioware good wiil.

There were some quotes from the devs to the effect they're purposefully trying to put some flaws in the designs of the characters, to get away for the "generic pretty" approach that's common in the games. I'd imagine that was one of the results of this decision.I expected a gorgeous Empress Celene like in the book The Masked Empire, i do understand she aged and around her 40's (or 50's not quite sure i hate math) but if you look at real life aged bit celebrities like Angelina Jolie, Kate Beckinsale, Alyssa Milano to name a few are jaw-drop gorgeous Ladies in their 40's why not Celene?

Specifically in Celene's case possibly also because with the mask covering most of the face they didn't have much to work with -- the very purpose of wearing the mask is to well, mask the features which make you most recognizable.

Admit it guys the mask Celene's and Briala's wearing didnt exactly hide their features. Briala looks the hot innocent scheming type look while Celene looks...not exactly how the Book described her (a let down for me who have read the book)
and yea you have some good points that i agree like what they did with Alistair, They gave him the boy next door look which is kinda off with the original game and comic's initial design
im not telling that bioware did an awful job with the character models i do like how morrigan, cassandra, varric, cullen looks to name a few
