I'm wondering if I missed something.  I completed the game with a pro-Mage playthrough, and the whole time, I only saw Alistair once in the game, when he was exiling the mages from Ferelden.  Does he have more screentime if you side with the templars?

I do know he's potentially the Warden that leads you to Adamant, and has a lot of screentime there.

No, he's absent as far as I'm aware if you side with the templars beyond War Table missions and a few companion/adviser chatters.

That King Alistair cameo is over before you even realize it is him. Really wanted a bit more. I searched all over Redciffe afterwards thinking you could find him there and talk to him. But no!

You get to talk with him more if you chose to keep him as a Grey Warden. He becomes Hawke's contact.

Yeah, what you assume. Having done both, you may find a playthrough with a Warden Alistair WAY more satisfying. But with Kingly Al, what you saw is what you get.

Damn.  Okay, thanks for the heads up.  I'm going to have to try a Warden Alistair world state sometime.  Alas, I picked King Alistair for my new character, so I'm going to have to get through her story first.  I don't feel like rerolling at the moment.  :P

And is Alistair's codex bugged? Everyone else in his position gets one, and there's nothing else listed or ever unlocked in the #2 slot where his info would be placed alphabetically...or is that what you meant? Anyway, it was frustrating, too.

Alistair is mostly played for laughs in DA2 and DA:I, unless you have the warden version. They really turn his goofiness up to 11 for most of his appearances, and don't really develop him at all. He had such great antagonistic chemistry with Morrigan in DA:O and in my playthrough was the father of Keran, but no mention was ever made of that.

He is one of the iconic characters from DA:O, but Bioware evidently, couldn't really think of anythng to do with him, unless he was still in the wardens.

There's a thread in Story, Campaign, and Characters on how to get warden!Alistair and Morrigan to chat.

Hey you!  Still hanging out in Varric's thread?  I can finally come out of hiding from spoilers, since I beat the game earlier this week   :)

Thanks for the tip.  I'll keep that in mind for my third play through.

He and Loghain have things to say, don't know about Stroud, and if Loghain says something if Kieran isn't his. Alistair has something for human!Kieran, and whether Kieran is his or not. It's very sweet.

Only in the games it seems because that's not the case in the comics where he has his own adventures as king.

I wonder why, it's not the same in the games.

Could be worse. Drunk Alistair doesn't appear at all from what I've seen.

That puzzles the hell out of me as well.  I guess that's why I expected more screen time.  Plus, we were spending a lot of time in Ferelden.  So yeah, that's pretty weird.  At least, regardless of world state, Alistair had at least a handful of lines in DA2.

For King Alistair in DA2, aside from eye-rolling comments like "Swooping is bad." <winks to the camera> and "Old Ball and Chain," he does add a little bit to the story.  He mentions that Orlais is "having troubles of it's own."  Which isn't a lot, but it's at least giving the player an idea of what could be happening outside of Kirkwall.

King Alistair in this game doesn't help further the story much other than kicking the mages out of Ferelden. Really, other than his more pro-Mage leanings, it could have been just about any generic ruler kicking Fiona and her crew out.

Drunk Alistair probably doesn't show up because Bann Teagan takes him home to help him sober up in Act 3 of DA2.  It still would have been nice though.

I guess that makes sense. in DA2 King Alistair got a whole dialogue quest with multiple branching reactions etc etc depending on what you ask and what you did and who is in your party, whereas Warden Alistair was only seen very briefly. So i suppose this is a fair turnabout.
