So I'm trying to get into MP finally, but I keep running into this glitch.

It only happens when I try to play with a friend. Whichever one of us isn't hosting the game gets the opening cutscene with no voice over, then it goes into an infinite black loading screen where the sound still works(we can hear each other's attacks).

Currently neither of us are using the 60 FPS cutscene fix.

Anybody got some kind of a workaround to this?

I'm geting the same. I removed the DLC folder, but no dice.

Bioware, please fix your ****. This is becoming unacceptable. I won't play SP until you fix the PC controls that you botched, and MP has been a buggy mess and now its DLC is perhaps even buggier???

You can attack even with the black screen? I've had this several times, but never was I able to attack.

Anyways, what I have found and started to do is, never load into a FRESH NEW GAME with other people. Its 100% that I end up with the black screen. Instead try joining running games and load into that. So in your case. Have your friend (or you) make and start the game, and invite the other, then load in. Works like a charm.

alt-f4 and try again.

That's the best advice I can give you.

EDIT: DAMMIT THIS WASN'T EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE A LEGIONNAIRE JOKE/REFERENCE GUYS HELP ME.

The person with the black screen can't attack, but they can hear the other person who loads in just fine.

We can try the mid-game load in though.

Unfortunately we're at like 15 attempts and no luck =P

So we tried a few attempts of inviting after the game has started, but now we're getting the issue that while we can fully load in the person who isn't hosting can't move their character. They can attack but that's it.

As amusing as it is to spam Payback Strike to move forward, I don't know if I want to do an entire game that way =P

I've had a couple of stuck characters at the start as well. I found that a simple jump gets my character moving.

Otheriwse I have no clue :(

Hrm...never had problems being consistent. I'm on the PC, if you recall, so I"m not sure if there's any correlation in that regard.

Have you tried hosting? Having someone else host? Check for install issues? Tried adding more Mabari?

@Cyonan
I know you probably thought about it already, but is you video card driver up to date? I ran in a couple problems myself (game minimizing, black screens, etc.) before I updated my driver (Nvidia, but I know AMD had to do the same for different reasons). Since then, I haven't got those glitches even once.

The "loading but no moving" glitch is caused by a streaming problem (confirmed by Bioware). The areas are live streamed to your computer to save memory but it has been known that the position of your character can be read erroneously and you spawn somewhere outside the navmesh (surface you can walk). The area seems to resync eventually, but your position isn't so you're stuck not being able to move. Nobody has found a solution except quitting the match. Maybe you'll have a better luck than the rest of us with this scrap of information.

Yeah, I always keep my drivers up to date. Not sure about my friend.

I'll see what I can do it with. I can at the very least play games just fine when my friend isn't around, so I can actually start playing the MP and leveling up.

We've both tried hosting, and whoever doesn't host has the issue.

You never have enough Mabari =P

It's like the old thing with MEMP, where I would get stuck loading or the rare occurrence of the character freezing in place at the LZ. To escape the loading freeze without alt-f4 you can try joining a friend's lobby - that should get you out of the freeze, just like in MEMP (only you can't cancel the connection attempt in DAMP and might end up ninja joining unsuspecting people).

Hey Cyanogen, my gut feeling is that all the various loading issues - infinite loads, black screen, no powers, can't move on load, etc are network related. These were much worse before the matchmaking was tweaked (where it tended to drop me into lobbies hosted halfway around the world to terrible effect), but even so, connecting is still really hit-or-miss - I've taken to hosting when I've played (although that tends to exacerbate crash to desktops). I'm in Asia at the moment, and sadly I couldn't play w/ any NA friends, even being on a 100Mbps+ connection here w/ <150ms ping and no jitter (we tried a bunch of times and like your experience, whoever was hosting got a black screen), whereas when we were on the same continent, wasn't a problem at all. Maybe DAMP just sucks handling dropped frames/packets? It might be interesting to see what your results are w/ https://iperf.fr/w/ your friend.
