For the last couple of weeks my team have noticed how the key was less likely to drop to drop when we had an elementalist in the group and were up against the red templar stealther, particularly within perilous.  It got to the point where we actually stopped playing maps with these mobs in there because you could guarantee that if you had a mob in stealth when it burnt to death, it would have 0 health, be in stealth but not dead.

Fast forward to this morning.  After installing the update yesterday, not playing perilous and having a key bug free day, I had a number of games without any real issue with the key not dropping.  So far this morning though I've attempted to play 5 games in threatening (not perilous this time!).  I was playing the elementalist for the first 3, and each game I encountered the bug where the key did not drop.  I then changed to a non-elementalist and unfortunately an elementalist joined the public game.  Yes, you guessed it the key didn't drop again and the game bugged.  Game 5 we managed to get a group without the elementalist and we ran through this without a problem, completing my first game of the morning.

I'm convinced that the problem is when a mob dies due to burning, usually from the firestorm skill but probably affecting any DoT fire effect.  Also a problem that seemed to previously just affect stealthers (in particular the red templar ones) now seems to also affect mobs in the new patch, I've heard people mention dogs on here but I've not been able to confirm this yet.

I should also mention, that at times migrating the host fixes this issue but I've also seen where this does not resolve it (although that may be the mob getting bugged by the fire death again)

I'm happy to provide any information if needed for the team looking in to this to troubleshoot, but I'd suggest you start with an elementalist spamming firestorm, wall of fire and immolate.  I'm pretty sure you'll hit that bug quickly enough.

No... not for people like me who are hardly even experiencing the bug at all.

happy for you to join my group if you want to see if you really don't get that bug.  I'd love to level my elementalist a couple of more levels so send me an invite mitnickuk

This bug seems pretty elusive -- as a counterexample to your "stealthed enemies that burn to death" -- I played many games as an Archer with both upgraded Explosive Shot and the bow that does Immolate. So lots of dudes burned to death, including stealth enemies, and we had no problems with the key dropping.

I guess maybe there could be something specific about just the Elementalist's fire-based powers, and not fire-based powers in general, but that seems really crazy.

Basically we are all shooting in the dark here. Presumably Bioware has some actual debugging tools that can help them investigate this.

So far there have been many reports pointing that elementalists could be one of the main reasons for the key dropping bug. I have been avoiding pugs with elementalist myself, and the bug does still happen, but at a much less frequency.

I did however, have one elementalist joined mid way and firestorm/burned everything in a red templar game, but the keys dropped fine. It was a nice group of folks, but I quit the lobby right afterwards :( .

Well I played another 3 games after that with the ele and again 3 times the key didn't drop.  But then another few more games after that. where I wasn't going as crazy with the fire damage, and it was ok.

I may be wrong but as far as I can see there's definitely a correlation between the ele's fire damage and the key bug.  I can't recall this issue ever happening when we've not had an ele in the group dealing most the damage.  I've also never seen it happen with the demon packs.  Here's hoping they pick something up and can resolve it soon enough.

Weeks? What the? This bug only started happening as much as it is happening, after the new dlc. I've played my ele more than any other character and I've never had the bug on him before the dlc. What are you talking about?

Firestorm can bug red templar shadow and lead to a missing key. It is a known bug even before the destructon DLC.

I'm on the forums every day and never read about it before the dlc. Also, again, I have played my ele more than any other class and never encountered it. We're talking about 300 hours here...

I only ever saw it happening in perilous pre-dlc and only with the red templar mobs as stated above.  It was a regular enough thing to happen at least daily and make us stop fighting the red templars on perilous when we got those mobs.  Unfortunately since the DLC it's been happening much more frequently.

I've noticed one thing with so far with this particular bug... it has ALWAYS to do with the 'stealthing' backstabber mob.. ALWAYS! (i dunno if others have had the bug with normal ranged or melee mobs, i've never had).. It is always the stealther mob.... consecutively, if it dies due to a DoT while in his stealth (burning or other).

That is my observation so far... always.

He gets the burn... bomb, whatever, he stealths as is the last alive... bug, and the mob stands there doing nothing - game over

I have had this happen to me as well while doing firestorm.

When it happens, sometimes you can find the troublesome mob's location with an area effect - like firestorm. It'll have a slight outline despite still being stealthed. Locating it won't help you advance - there's no way to kill it at that point. However, it does let you confirm which mob is involved with the bug. Usually its the stealthed backstabby Templar. Once for me, it was one of the little dinosaur mobs.
