Cassandra and Solas are usually regulars in my party (As a mage). Usually rotate out the last spot a lot. I like running with Dorian but sometimes need a rogue so Cole is my backup.

 

I hear so much good stuff about IB but I never hear any banter from the guy!

For banter, my favorite party is Solas, Cole, and Cass.

 

For mechanics, with my archer rogue I took Vivienne, Cass, and Varric.  That team isn't terrifically high on damage, but has enough defense and CC to withstand almost anything, even underleveled and undergeared.  For my KE mage, I go Dorian, Cass, and Sera.

 

Basically Cass is the best and should be in all parties, all the time

I recommend having him in a party with Solas.

At first they fight all the time about the Qun but if you decide to spare the chargers they become bros. Solas also has a lot to say if you bring him along for the Qun quest.

Probably not as funny as Sera banters, but there are some very sweet moments between the two.

How much of a sin is to wipe the iron bull and make him a sword and shield tank?

Not at all, in my opinion. I always give Bull a shield. He's too much of a potion suck with a two-hander. I do the same thing with Cole or the same reason. He gets a bow.

even with a +10 defense per hit gear he STILL gets himself hurt all the time

I would use Sera but she pisses me off SOOOOOOOOOO much so I have to deal with Bianca and how limited that weapon is

Sera's a qt pie imo, so I do sometimes swap Varric for her. I usually keep Varric just because his banter with Cassandra is so ****** good.

Im trying hard to keep it constantly changing in my new playthrough. In my first as a dual wielding rogue my party rarely veered from Dorian, Varric and Iron Bull.

I've been wrecking **** on nightmare with the all warrior party, Me, Cassandra, Blackwall and Iron Bull. But my favorite party is Me, Cassandra, Dorian and Iron Bull or Solas.

I do them manually and find that certain characters suck as well if they don't have guard or barrier abilities.

I love having everyone together - mainstays are Blackwall, Varric (or Cole), and Dorian (or Solas). I'll rotate other people in and out of the lineup for their banter, heh.

Definitely manual. Used to gimp my character in Neverwinter Nights thanks to auto-skill back in the day, never again.

I keep my party in rotation, but I tend to use Blackwall (WS Tank), Cole (Assassin Archer), and Dorian (Thunder Mage for Static Cage) or Vivienne (KE support) for challenging fights.

I always take Dorian. Mostly because he's awesome, has funny banter with almost everyone and his the constant LI. It doesn't hurt he's also a great companion in terms of damage and cc (walking bomb preffered and he does a lot of aoe damage and cc).

After that I tend to always have at least one of each class to avoid running into locked doors I can't open, or walls or something.

Last pt I mostly run with Sera and Blackwall. I do want to take Cole in a pt though. Blackwall... eh, I'm not the biggest fan, but without supervision he's the best tank and the only one that can survive on his own against dragons (IB dies instantly, Cassandra dies eventually, though very hard and the rest of companions.. lol).

I took Varric in my first pt, he's his usual awesome self so that's fun

Vivienne was strong no matter what. Cassandra was a great tank shielder, and Bull was powerful. I never used Cole and only used Sera and Blackwell a few times each.

I tend to rotate my team, since I like to hear all the different banter. The ones I bring along more frequently are Cass, Varric and Dorian, with me as a Rift Mage For my dual-wielding rogue, I like Cass, Dorian and Solas
