Cole (spec'd as archer), Iron Bull (spec'd as tank), and Dorian.

Main party all the time. They're so good together :o

Assassin archer is deadly, and IB actually does a decent job at tanking. I'm thinking of actually speccing him to be a part reaver tank as well - at least for the healing ability. I imagine that could alleviate most of his potion issues. I'm using him for my nightmare game and thus far he's doing a good job (50 hrs in).

As a dual wield rogue, I always took Dorian and Bull, and rotated out the 3rd slot.

Now I am a Mage and I am having fun taking out Viv, Solas & Dorian. Haven't heard too much banter but we kick ass on hard!

For my first playthrough with a dual wielding rogue, my go-to was:

Cassandra and Blackwall on rotation

Dorian

Vivienne.

For amazing banter, I would wander around with Dorian, Sera and Cole together.

Bow wielding, constantly stealthing, trap-laying Rogue Inquisitor + Unstoppable demon-slaying, one woman siege weapon, Cassandra f***ing Pentaghast + Absurdly powerful Mage Goddess Vivienne + and shield spamming, fire hurling Solas = Utter annihilation of my enemies. Bwahahahahahahaha!

If I just want awesome banter, it's all about Varric + Dorian + Iron Bull OR Solas + Cole + Iron Bull.

Yes Cassandra is insanely useful

Did I tell you she is decked in FULL ON GOLD PLATED GEAR in my game? I swear demons see her coming out of the fade and say "oh **** no"

I switch up party members quite regularly.  With that said, I run mostly with a party of:

Mage (Rift or KE) Inquisitor

Cassandra (rarely Blackwall or IB)

Solas (sometimes Dorian, never Vivienne)

Varric or Sera (Cole is too squishy)

What do you do for locked doors/chests and walls that need to be smashed down?  Do you revisit the area with a rogue or warrior?

Cassandra best tank and politest.

Solas best mage and most intelligent.

Cole best rogue with dual daggers and funny.

I've been playing for hours and Dorian has hardly said a thing to anyone.

Varric is pretty good though I'm not happy about his crossbow.

IB is OK ~ I expected more talk with Dorian but they never said a word to each other.

Vivienne is OK, my dear.

Blackwall is too dour.

Sera, I wouldn't have in my party ever, even if she had double stats. I should have banished her when she first appeared.

Walls and red lyrium veins can be smashed simply by applying damage to them; you don't necessarily need a warrior here (in contrast to locked chests and objects to energise).

Inq Elven Mage + Solas was fixed for me most of the time, the other two slots usually rotated heavily. The only char I never took out was Sera.

Any party with Cassandra is a good one.

The other night, she explained to Blackwall why she punches trees. That was good.

I haven't tried many combinations for long periods of time (just exploring), but I love Cole, Cassandra and Sera/Solas. I usually switch Cole for Vivienne in dragon fights though.

With Cole/Cass/Solas, there's some lovely banters there. Cole/Solas friendship is pretty obvious, but I was surprised how they both develop some kind of mutual respect/friendship thing with Cass. You'd think at first glance that a Seeker and general big-shot in the Chantry wouldn't get along with them, but no. It's really cute. Besides, in combat Cassandra can stand against pretty much any threat, Cole's does lots of damage, and Solas can use protective barriers and whatnot. Plus he has interesting insights on various things. Switching Solas for Sera loses the historical/magical insight but gains silly comments and humour. Her banter with Cass is alternately cute and funny. She's pretty horrible to Cole so I don't have them together for too long, despite loving them both.

On my next playthroughs, I'm eager to try Dorian/Bull/Vivienne, Dorian/Bull/Sera, and Varric/Cole/Cassandra. Plus the all-girl team. It depends on my character's class, race and romance for the best balance.
