For reference, this is the first mass effect 3 weekend event.
Weekend challenge (because its really not an event): Kill 100 enemies with axes and 100 enemies with staves for a chest each.

Do the harder difficulties spawn more enemies? Because if not it seems like doing this on Routine would be fine (other than wounding one's pride I guess).

You get about 90 kills by soloing routine once so yeah, if you have shitty axes/staves then just do that.

With Legionnaire or Templar you can just build Guard and auto-attack to get every kill with your axe.
With the staff classes, you can just Barrier yourself or use un-upgraded Fade Cloak / Step so you don't accidentally kill with your powers.
But I kind of want to do a team game of 4 Legionnaires or 4 staff classes where you are only allowed to auto-attack, and not use any powers at all. That would be funny.

Power kills count towards kills for your weapon.

Oh well that's no fun. I was really looking foward to auto-attacking my way to victory.
not sure if being sarcastic or not

That's actually something I've been thinking about lately, but I didn't really care much because I ain't much of a fan of Warrior classes.
Challenges are challenges though.

Just so you know Great-axes don't work, it has to has to say just axe in the little underbar to the weapons name.

They could have done nothing instead but I have a feeling you'd complain about that too.
Probably, considering we were promised weekend events and the first one is over a month after launch and its 2 challenges that can be completed in 1 game each.

Um Penguin this is not constructive criticism. You have failed your own test.

Got a lvl 21 rare Greataxe in a commendation chest, nice. Refined Hossberg Twainer. Shame I'll probably salvage it as I already have Slayer, a slightly better Greataxe. Also just got the Sulevin Blade this morning on my first chest of the day. My Katari and Reaver are happy chaps right now.

I wasn't critisising anything, I was stating a fact. Were were promised weekend events, this 'event' came over a month after launch and you can complete both challenges in 1 game each.

completed it in about 45mins
1 threatening and 1 routine match
for the addicts/grinders 1000 would have been better but still easy
better than nothing

Managed 107 vs Venatori in a routine solo so yeah, 1 solo is plenty. I have a feeling they will up it significantly now that we're talking about how easy it is though.

I figure they start us off with easy challenges and they will get progressively more challenging. Or maybe they set it low on purpose because of all the issues people are having (including me) so we can get it done without too much hair pulling.

A Routine clear is well above 100 kills if you clear the 5th Zone. I think my Legionnairre got close to 110-120 kills in one round, which was more than enough.
As a sidenote, I am glad I keep every rare weapon I get, just in case of changes to the Craft system or if lower-tier weapons will somehow get relevant. It made it damn easy to get a weapon for the challenge. ![]()

Pretty underwhelming for a weekend challenge :/

After playing once since the DLC patch and immediately running into the key bug, I was sort of waiting for it to be fixed before playing again. I wonder... should I delete the DLC? The animals make for extra kills, but I think we lose challenge progress if we have to disconnect.

Getting 100 kills of any type over a single weekend actually sounds really hard for me, let alone 200 with specific weapon types.
I guess kill assists don't count? You have to get the killing blow?

Sounds like your criticizing in a non-constructive way to me. Or as the other poster put it and you seemed to agree with, "complaining."
Not like I can say much, it's just amusing to me. ![]()
