My initial reaction: Skeptical. Could just be edited with male Quizzie lines into Cullen romance dialogue.
After hearing the male PC's sexy, "Cullen....." line:
WTF!? Was Cullen planned as bisexual at some point?
I'd love to know if they recorded both dialogue options for everyone. Is there a file of male PC with Sera? Female PC with Dorian or Cass?
Now I need to know.

Not sure about the Male Inqusitor and Sera. There is a video of a M!Quisitior romance with Sera but no dialogue for him, telepathic communication instead lol.

That's interesting. If it's like ME, where all LI's had s/s and o/s romance lines, then it's not a big deal. Probably just done for the same reason why they did it in ME: easier to have them record all the lines when they have them in the studio.
However, if Cullen is the only straight or gay LI who has both male and female romance files, then it seems like it's because they intended for him to be bisexual and then changed their minds. Interesting.
People with greater computer skills than I need to get on this! Get into those files and find answers!

They did mention that there was a LI that they wanted to make bisexual, but it just "didn't work" and the character remained hetero. It was at the GaymerX panel from earlier this year. I had suspected Cass, but maybe it was Cullen?

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that. I bet you are right. I bet that they intended for Cullen to be bisexual (human and elf only) and then struggled with working it into his story. I wonder if it was the whole "he can flirt with lady Amell/Suranas and not male ones" that they couldn't figure out how to work around.
Shame. I almost never choose to play humans or elves, but I can pretty much guarantee that I'd be running a human male mage for my second playthrough if Cullen had been an option. That boy? Dreamy!
ETA: ARGH! I just realized that we might have been this close to getting our m/m KISA! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (was that too dramatic?)

I'm curious what they mean by that though. They also said Solas and Blackwall were made hetro for very obvious story reasons and yet....nothing. To be honest Cullen would have been good LGBT representation for the Dragon Age series. Dorian and Iron Bull felt like very stereotypical non-straight media portrayals.
Cullen also has arguably the best romance in the game, so there is that.
I figure if it didn't work, it didn't work. I wouldn't want any character to be forced into a sexuality that doesn't feel natural to the writers. <shrug>
I loved Iron Bull's romance, so I think we all have our preferences on that one. ![]()

Tell me about it, I had my fingers crossed that Cullen would be a bi romance for DA:I. He's pretty darn great in this game and he has a great romance.
The words "sexual" and "Cole" make simply no connection in my mind. Doesn't work. Don't want any images in my head about that, no matter what. Cole *shudder* , even Oghren is sexier I'd say...

Um, we're talking about Cullen, not Cole.

I think it was Solas and Cullen (the race-gated ones) who they said were because of 'story reasons'. It was around the race-gating, not their sexual orientations.

Agreed. It's probably better this way. I'll just have to keep crossing my fingers for a hairy, dwarf Legion of the Dead romance in DA 4!
Plus, could you imagine the threads about Cullen being 'turned gay'! RETCON!!!!!

Yeah, I didn't think I'd like him, but he's surprisingly likeable in DA I. Plus, super sexy. That little look he gives in his first dialogue where he walks away with the scout who interrupts your conversation...... <swoon>

Hmm, that's interesting. Shame they didn't go through with it.
I may be a woman, so Cullen is already available to me, but with all the requests for a gay/bi KISA, would've been cool if they had gone through with bi Cullen.
(Imagine all the whining that would've happened, though. "Cullen was sooo het in DAO!! Why you make him so ghey BioWare?" because apparently if you don't express attraction for both genders all the time you're obv not bisexual)

With the information that this exists in the games data, hopefully if Bioware never restores it then modders will have success at some point. There is already progress in the modding area albeit slow.

It would be Kaidan all over again, i'm glad he turned out to be Bi. I think a lot of people assume that characters have to accounce their sexuality to everyone. I think so long as it's never stated overtly then it's fair game.

And I've never been so sad to play on console.....
Well, maybe when they first did the Kaidan/mShep mods too.
If this is the same company that turned Anders bisexual after his role in Awakening where he talked non-stop about women, pretty girls, and starting a harem, then I see no reason why they couldn't also make Cullen bisexual. They could just use the same excuse they did with Anders and say "He never showed that side of himself to women." After Anders it's way too late to take the moral high ground regarding characters in this series having rigid sexualities.

Meh I feel like these situations are different. Cullen acts differently towards female and male mage PCs in Origins (who are otherwise identical). DA:A Anders talks about his attraction to women more, but never indicates that he's not attracted to men.
Cullen did seem to dress a bit like Liberace, with his fluffy shoulder warmer.

Awakening!Anders never outright says "I am NOT attracted to men! Only ladies!" Talking about your attraction for one gender only doesn't preclude you from being bisexual. Unless of course you say that you do not find the opposite/same/whatever sex attractive.
I'm bisexual, but I only ever really talk about my attraction to women. Does that make me a lesbian? Nope. Still as bi as bi gets.
I feel bad for replying to the obvious bait, ugh

Not at all
Fear not though; hopefully modders will get on this. It may take awhile, but finally we have something to hope for.

omg Don't you know that making a character bi is erasing their sexuality
Dur. Also, characters are just like real people. They have always existed and were never created, can never be recreated or rewritten, because they are real people. REAL. PEOPLE.
