You must be saying it's a good idea then? Or am I the only one who thinks a wankstorm sounds good. I want everyone to make a mental image of one in your heads, No no, a larger wankstorm. You're welcome.

Pass the soap.

Well I've already said I don't care about bitterbutt entitled fans screaming about TEH GAYS!!!1 So sure, wankstorm away lmfao. But it's a concern for others, which is why I noted it.

Imagine "BIOWARE CANT MAKE A DLC OF MUH WARDEN KICKING WVERYONES BUTTS 5EVA BCUZ THEY WANTED TO ADD MORE GAY!!!", repeating forever.

The problem is that you assume this hypothetical scenario would be against the creative expression and desire of the devs, which attributes a laughable amount of power to the queer fanbase while ignoring the fact that the devs write the stories they want already, even if its unpopular. (See Sera, for example)

Don't bring Sera into this. All characters have good and bad sides to them. Would be a bit boring if everyone was a goody-two-shoes,no? ;) (Like *cough* Cullen *cough* )

@Baerdface  See, that's the problem.  If Cullen was bisexual, it wouldn't have been a "tick box," just for the sake of representation.  If anything, that's probably why they cut any bisexual lines from his dialogue.  They didn't/couldn't feel like that the character would have been good representation of a bisexual character, so that was cut due to running out of time.  I'm not thrilled, but I respect why they did that.  So to imply that everyone thinks that Cullen should have been bisexual for the sake of inclusion is wrong.  Yes, there is a few that feel that way, but it isn't reflective of the thread as a whole.

Haha, I love Sera. She's one of my favorite characters in the game. But you can't deny she's a lesbian and very polarizing, so she's obviously not "pandering."

They cut him for time, not for characterization.

And I still cannot agree with the idea of him being bad bisexual representation, and find a lot of the arguments against it are too similar to things I've heard from people upon finding out I'm bisexual, so I find it personally hard to sympathize with them, although of course I respect any bisexual persons perspective on it.

Okay, my final point.

People seem to get the idea that I'm against LBGT when actually I fully support it and want it represented in a non-hamfisted way. My point is that those type of characters need a more careful approach when writing them for them to not seem token, because it is quite a new thing in gaming. I want them to be just as interesting and complex characters with a purpose in the main story without them "just being there for the sake of it". If that makes me homophobic, then you have an interesting understanding of that word.

I want those characters to be good and not be like the "token black guy" in movies who just happens to be there for the sake of including a black guy who has no lines of dialogue or anything.

It's kind of lame when I'm trying to say that these characters need to be more than just  "that one thing they're there to represent", yet I'm getting **** for it.

TL;DR:

"RESULT of writing a character" vs "INTENTION of writing a character"

I'm saying INTENTION shouldn't put you into a certain box or tick a checklist, so the RESULT comes out natural. Simple as that. The result doesn't bother me in any way as long as the intention is not restricting the writer's creative freedom.

Done, I think I made it as clear as possible. Feel free to misinterpret my words in any way you want again.

As much as I wish Bioware would patch Cullen's romance, I don't think It'll be done.

Everyone would say Bioware is pandering to the gays, even if they do a lot of fan pandering to other people. >.>

I don't have any idea where Cullen's bisexual romance would've gone, so I can't speak as to whether or not he would have made a good representation of my sexuality.  When I say that the lines were cut due to him not working as a bisexual character, I was thinking it's because they ran out of time.  My guess is that they wanted to have a fully rounded bisexual romance, and with the work only partially completed, it was better to leave him straight rather than, "straight except for the male Inquisitor."  That's my guess, anyhow.

I would not have been opposed to it at all, personally.

The words "sexual" and "Cole" make simply no connection in my mind. Doesn't work. Don't want any images in my head about that, no matter what. Cole *shudder* , even Oghren is sexier I'd say...

I find Cole attractive in more than one sense. I know I am not the only one. Do I gather from this I am some sort of monster? Well, no. I'm not. Please stop this attitude towards the Cole fandom.

But why does he need bisexual lines to be bisexual? It's not like Cullen is the kind of character who goes drooling around on other people. some people are quietly bi.

Peeps judging. Peeps judging everywhere. Isn't really fair though, I thought all the hate towards her comes from her being nasty to everyone elves and all.

I'd hope, at the very least, that he would have had gender specific lines.

But you can't be token if everyone shares your traits right? So in the "everybody is gay" version of the DA universe, if they all then had different personalities/expressions of their sexuality, would it still be pandering? It's like having a movie with all white people in it, but each one fills a different role. It's not pandering to white guys in that setting, just one shared trait of every character.

He does, doesn't he? I know Greg Ellis recorded them, maybe they didn't make it into the game files.

Source there is my friend who is close to some of the devs and told me about the Cullen bi thing a long time ago though, so take that with a grain of salt since its secondhand.

This.  And if they couldn't have done it in time, it's probably just for the best that Cullen turned out the way he did.

I'm not saying he had to go around being completely open about bisexual.  Outside of these forums, I don't.   :P

While the debate in here has been interesting, I still think that the devs' minds are made up about this.  Modders might be able to restore the..four lines I think back into the game, but I wouldn't expect anything on BioWare's end.  No patches and no DLC for a Cullen bisexual romance.

I'm not forcing you to do anything, remember! :o Santa Bioware is nice, I swear. *Coughing fit* not *cough* Phew ^_^ (Instead of leaving him cookies and milk this year, I highly recommend leaving him your freshly shed fan tears. HE LOVES THEM -I'm looking at you David G.- )
