I've said this in another thread but I'll repeat it here since it's relevant: I'm very much in favour of every romance partner being bisexual and adjusting to the player being either male or female. I think that would be the best compromise since if people want Cullen to be in a straight romance they can indulge in that whilst those who want him to be gay can still enjoy the character to the fullest extent.

I'll be very, very disappointed if Cullen was indeed intended to be bisexual only for it to be scrapped. After Alistair in Dragon Age I really wanted a classically handsome knight to romance - yet so far that hasn't been an option. Neither Dorian or Iron Bull appeals to me and so I ended up romancing Cassandra and Josephine instead.

Having everyone be bisexual is not realistic.  Not every person you see in public is gay, straight, or bi they all have their own preference.  I like that Bioware stopped the everyone is bi trend from DA2 in this game and had characters that actually had preferences based on race etc.  You may find the cashier at a store attractive.  However they may not be attracted to you or even like anyone of your gender race etc.  That's the way it is in the real world and more games should reflect that instead of catering to everyone.

Elves are the worst race in the entire series.

I'm not forcing you to do anything, remember! :o Santa Bioware is nice, I swear. *Coughing fit* not *cough* Phew ^_^ (Instead of leaving him cookies and milk this year, I highly recommend leaving him your freshly shed fan tears. HE LOVES THEM -I'm looking at you David G.- )

Crap, I don't think I have enough of those. Hold on, lemme start collecting everyone else's.

He does, doesn't he? I know Greg Ellis recorded them, maybe they didn't make it into the game files.

Source there is my friend who is close to some of the devs and told me about the Cullen bi thing a long time ago though, so take that with a grain of salt since its secondhand.

I don't remember any gender specific lines, but I also wasn't trying to hear them. There might very well be.

This.  And if they couldn't have done it in time, it's probably just for the best that Cullen turned out the way he did.

I'm not saying he had to go around being completely open about bisexual.  Outside of these forums, I don't.   :P

While the debate in here has been interesting, I still think that the devs' minds are made up about this.  Modders might be able to restore the..four lines I think back into the game, but I wouldn't expect anything on BioWare's end.  No patches and no DLC for a Cullen bisexual romance.

They might, but what good would restoring those files be without also having the accompanying cinematics? I guess you could just fade to black and listen to talking, but that's essentially what listening to the audio files is anyway. And the modders might be very good, but adding in cinematics to Inquisition sounds like it would be incredibly difficult if not downright impossible.

Oh, no arguments from me on that one.  I do know that some folks would be happy even just hearing the lines.  I'm not one of those folks, since Cullen remaining straight doesn't phase me much, but they are out there.  I can't entirely blame them either.  Having a bisexual male character that didn't have an ulterior motive in DA games would be nice (Zev wanted to live, Anders eventually tries to use you to blow up a church, Iron Bull is a Qunari spy with mild PTSD)

Okay, excluding Fenris, mainly because the shadiness of his past isn't all of his own making.  He doesn't have any ulterior motives in being with Hawke either.

But you can't be token if everyone shares your traits right? So in the "everybody is gay" version of the DA universe, if they all then had different personalities/expressions of their sexuality, would it still be pandering? It's like having a movie with all white people in it, but each one fills a different role. It's not pandering to white guys in that setting, just one shared trait of every character.

But that's not the case and be smug all you like, the LBGT representation is still a subject most writers in gaming tiptoe around. Also, you're still under impression that I think all LBGT inclusion is pandering so you clearly haven't read my post.

I think there's no point trying to reason. I should just return to my old ways of being smug and condescending about everything because that's the only thing that flies in these forums.

Not trying to argue, but how come I keep seeing posts that say that the game doesn't have to be realistic?

If Cullen's m/m romance was cut off because of time limits I think at least to me he's bisexual then and it wasn't just a idea. I just wonder if devs will ever confirm to us if it was time issues or just idea that was abandoned.

If they did that then they would have to make Cassandra Bi.  Because if they did a Cullen Bi Mod.......there would be rage for people who wanted Cassandra Bi.   So they won't do it

Ok but Dragon Age doesn't tiptoe around it. Dragon Age embraces LGBT as normal and important. Dragon Age wants their LGBT fanbase to feel like they have a place there. Dragon Age has a diverse creative team that involves LGBT people. So I just don't get why you think pandering is a potential problem. It's not pandering if you're writing about your own interests that you happen to share with your community.

I thought that way too until I saw the posts about how he was intended to be bisexual in the beginning. I still don't really see that though, since it's not the final product.

I never said that Dragon Age is pandering, I'm saying the fans shouldn't demand to be pandered to and let the devs do their thing. It's petty to complain so much about a bit of cut content in the most progressive game out there.

Right, but this is a thing the devs WANTED to do and politely requesting they restore it is hardly demanding.

Sadly I haven't seen it since I'm waiting for patch before playing the game ^^;

It'd be intresting to know if he makes that face to dwarf and qunari ladies too though. Since they were cut off from his romance because of time issues as well.

The modders?  The modders would be the first to do an Equal Love mod, if they can work with the game's code well enough..  I don't see why folks would rage if the modders did a Cullen bisexual romance mod based on files in the games code.    I know I wouldn't give a crap.  I never used the Equal Love mod, but I don't care if others do.  Most console players wouldn't be mad at the modders for making such a mod.  Most console players ignore mods, since it doesn't apply to them.

The Dragon Age team isn't going to change a thing though.  That was what I was getting it.
