And he pretty much seemed like he was going to give himself a good flogging for those feelings. I wonder if he would have handled the bi aspect of himself and being attracted to men equally as well because by the end in the circle he was one heck of a mess. And if it was a male mage, male Amell or Surana would that make it twice as bad for the day and age of the setting, how it appears to have ramifications based on Dorian's scenes. I wonder if that might be why they chose to not take that route now that I think of it. We've got the whole lyrium addiction element and had they made him bi and gone with it, I wonder if even though his being a lyrium addict was in no way is own fault and literally forced on him, would that just another element of something that would not look good where someone somewhere would start a whole 'the one good bi male is a lyrium addict!' thread? Right now I feel like not having him as a bi option based on some of the concerns people brought up in this thread might be good. I can just see the fallout now and I can imagine a whole conversation in the writing department 'well we can't have both because it just won't look good. Someone will be up in arms about it because someone always is and they will stir the pot and we'll be remembered for creating a bi male character who was a lyrium addict. So it's either lyrium addict or bi male. Which will it be?'

Well it's not just him, every Templar is a lyrium addict. That's been known since DAO and it hasn't stopped his fans from liking him.

I know that. I mean that someone somewhere would turn it into a thing despite that they are all lyrium addicts except for Alistair who never took it and still had templar abilities but never actually became one. But I can just see someone taking offense because he's a lyrium addict. Someone always does. It would become a whole negative image thing. You don't think that couldn't possibly happen? From where I'm sitting I feel like it would be bound to happen. At least 95% chance. And now it's an image thing and a derogatory image that maybe the media picks up on even though most people wouldn't see it like that there would be some who always do which is a shame but sadly true.

Know what ship it was? I'm now curious but don't know how to find out.

I mean that's what she posted right after rudely asking Gaider why Cullen wasn't bi then claiming he didn't know the game, etc. Some people in the thread were trying to charitably suggest she just had poor communication skills, but that tweet makes it clear that she was being antagonistic.

I think that you fail to understand what saying, "If only to show the bisexual and homosexual male fans that they matter" means. But, whatever. If you think it means something different, then you just keep on keeping on.

I think you are taking my posts out of context on purpose.

Yes I think restoring the Bi!Cullen romance content would show bisexual and homosexual male fans they matter. That does not mean that they didn't matter prior to that (and I honestly can't even wrap my head around why you'd think that), or they lacked support. They would just be getting more.

~*~

I got up to page 14 and decided to skip up to the current page.

Seriously, the least interesting thing about Cullen is his "straightness".

If we get an expansion similar to Awakening, I'm hoping we get to keep the same cast and that they restore Cullen to being bi.

The fan desire is there/was there before this revelation, and it would be easier/cheaper to restore content already there than create new stuff. It's definitely an opportunity.

Ugh... no. Cullen has always been straight. Changing that now weakens his character.

It would not weaken his character if he was bisexual.  That's nonsense.  I'm against having the DA team restore this content, but not because him being bisexual "weakens" him any way.   <_<

Hopefully we won't have this "you can't change returning characters!" next game. Please please move far enough away that seeing old faces would be absurd. We've meet them and had our fun. Tie their plot threads in some DLC or an expansion and lay them to rest and move on to new people. >_>

Im more concern about the impact the new re-established Chantry Leliana or Cassandra will create.

This is cool too, especially as I've chosen Vivi to be my Divine. Since the thread is about Cullen though, I thought I would point out a possible way we could go forward with him and his content.

Those are the same weak non-arguments people used for Kaidan and Anders.

Yes, it's nonsense to think that writing a character one way then later changing them for no real reason is bad writing. Thank you for enlightening me. Next time I want to have an opinion I'll just try to remember that yours is the only one that matters.

Anders was just... ugh. Had nothing to do with his sexuality though. At least, DA2 Anders. Kaiden was always awesome.

Nothing. Changing him so drastically is what does that.

You can leave out the snark next time, thanks.  I didn't say my opinion was the only one that mattered.  Next time, don't take a disagreement of opinion as personal.   Oh and I said that this idea that his character would be weakened by him being bisexual was nonsense.  I agree with you about not changing his character at this point.   Please read what I wrote.

Nothing. Changing him so drastically is what does that.

And how would it be such a drastic change of personality if he preferred both genders over just one?

What, you aren't going to call for your pipe, call for your bowl and call for your Fiddlers Three?

I have no idea why that old rhyme entered my head while reading your post.

Not old enough to know that poem. Eh.
