OK, so. I think what we have really established is that next game the romances should be:

- Scout Harding, bisexual. Because she responds positively to flirts from Inquisitors of both genders and all races, and because dwarves.

- A male dwarf warrior, also bisexual. Because more dwarves. We dwarf-lovers have been waiting for about fifteen years at this point, I think we need a choice of genders. Also more knights in shining armour available to male PCs.

There. BioWare, I have organised character concepts for you, the rest should be totes easy.

nice, but is it ok for a dwarf to be Bi? well based in DA lore Dwarven populattion is dwindling and the last thing a dwarf will do is to be less productive (in terms of procreation)

OK, so. I think what we have really established is that next game the romances should be:

- Ser Barris, gay. (Unless he can be dead after Inquisition? Can he die on screen?) A gay knight in shining armor is long overdue, so let's be as literal as possible.

- A female qunari warrior, lesbian. For all the women who are sad that so far all the ladies who are remotely butch are also straight.

- Also a couple of straight people, I guess. I know that there's demand for a female elf who can be romanced by male elves, so I we could have one of those plus a straight dude.

There. BioWare, I have organised character concepts for you, the rest should be totes easy.

This is like asking if an elf can date a human, given that any union between the two even if het would result in a human child.

People's hearts and libidos don't always follow reproductive demands, lmao.

I did make a female quizzy, but only to see the Cullen/F!inquisitor romance and dream how that could've been my M!inquisitor instead.

But to keep this on topic, I've wondered if there is a way to change gender in Cheat Engine. Or how this audio/fix would be modded into the game. Wish I knew how to do that. :/

So far texture replacing has become a thing, aparently inserting new meshes is being worked on. It's possible scripts and other things will come in time.

If we really are going to get a DA4, then I'd like to be able to romance a female dwarf and/or female Qunari. It's been ages, pls!

You'd have to ask Scout Harding. She seems fine.

You forgot translady lesbian Mother Giselle!

How did I manage that?! All right, she can be one of the extra options. Since we had eight this time, there's still room for more lesbians. (But when is there not room for more lesbians?)

You make a very good point. Is female elf OK? Heteroromantic asexual or demisexual female elf?

And then Krem could be the straight male! And then everyone would be happy.

(Except men who want to romance Krem, I guess, but they'd have Ser Barris and a dwarf.)

Being bisexual doesn't preclude kids, even in Thedas.  I can see child surface dwarves rendered orphaned by the war being adopted by a same sex dwarf couple.  The kid gets a home, the couple gets a family, and the dwarf race is further preserved by the nature and nurture of having a home.  Everyone wins.   ;)

I'm not sure if a male or female elf would be better, but I'm desperate. I'll take anyone.

Nah. An aromantic romance would, though. (Although an aromantic relationship could be interesting, in its own way. Doesn't the Bull have a romance branch-path like that?) Being asexual just means I don't have the sexual desire most others do.

Approve all of these, but I would modify this one to a happy, low-drama straight dude. I’ve been kind of bummed about the Cullen situation ever since the apparent reason for the cut came out (I want to believe that Gaider’s tweet with plural “reasons” meant there were story reasons as well, but that’s classic BSN overreaching unless someone from BW says otherwise).

Let me preface this by quoting Patrick Weekes at GaymerX: “Straighty’s going to be OK.” I totally understand that limited AAA game content for straight female gamers is not the same as limited AAA game content plus until-recently-nonexistent representation for gaymers. But: just as it is for men and women interested in the same sex, BioWare is still the only mass-market video game studio I’m aware of that makes this kind of content for straight women. I was agnostic on the Cullen issue before the sexualities were announced, but after completing DA:I (aside from noticing and wondering about the near-total lack of references to the PC being female in his romance) I was so happy that the DA series finally had a full-fledged romance specifically for women interested in men that included no lies, tragedies, or dysfunction, which are awesome as part of a variety but all of which have in practice been concentrated in the straight men throughout the BioWare oeuvre. I’m really surprised at how disappointed I was to learn after the fact that this wasn’t an intentional decision.

I hope DA4 includes both one or more gay, lesbian, or bi KISAs and a planned-as-straight guy with a happy, mutually respectful romance arc like Cullen's. I also hope they come down one way or another on Cullen: either patch him in as bisexual or declare him canonically straight and write him as such in any story DLC / expansions. Going halfway by keeping DA:I as is and adding an expansion-only mini-romance for men wouldn't be fair to either audience in my opinion.

You do realize that plenty of games have lines that are gender specific said by the other gender. DA2 also had male hawke say lines that were femhawke only:

Cullen was never going to be bisexual. He never showed interest in guys before and those lines were only included for the same reason the video had similar lines done by the other VA. Man, DA2 really turned the LGBT fans into spoiled kids who want the entire game to be to their standards.

I want to give this a million likes. This is the first time that, as a female straight gamer, I've been 100% happy with what I know will end up as my canon romance. My Warden romanced Alistair maybe twice, then decided that it felt too much like puppy love. My Hawke romanced Anders once and he ended up with a knife in his back. Neither my canon Warden or Hawke have romances, and that's just unimpressive. If Blackwall and Iron Bull were my only choices they would also be unacceptable but for different reasons, and I'd have a third canon Bioware character who went unromanced.

Romance choices aren't just about sexual preference, they're also about the LI. Cullen's romance has a maturity to it that I appreciate, along with a lack of drama or additional angst. It's just two people who kind of awkwardly fall in love and end up happy. And frankly, that's just really nice to experience.

Except there are responses of flirtation with Cullen from both Dorian and Cassandra, both of whom are exclusively male romances. Both of them, commenting on the Inquisitor having been flirting with Cullen. They would not have this content if there weren't any kind of intent to actually have Cullen romanceable by male Inquisitors, because neither of them would be affected.

Just because he doesn't show interest in male wardens in DAO doesn't mean he isn't bi, just look at Kaidan.

What 'standards' would that be exactly? Could it possibly be wanting the same varied characters what straight people have always had instead of the stereotypes we've been getting. Poor dear, things must be so hard for you.

Actually, considering that David Gaider, Patrick and Karen Weeks all mentioned at GaymerX there was a character that they were trying to write as bisexual and couldn't quite pull it off, it's a good chance that Cullen was meant to be bi at some point in development.  Once again, someone can be bisexual without telling it to everyone they meet.  Plus, this was the first time Cullen had actually gotten to know a PC enough to get to know him in that sense.  I don't go around telling people that I'm bisexual everywhere I go.

Cullen was also in his early 20s during Origins, which can be a big point of understanding one's own sexual identity as an adult.  In the end, he was meant to be straight, but no one should throw any around any certainties as to whether or not he was "never" going to be bisexual.

As to the bolded, you obviously have no idea the number of threads/posts coming from guys declaring they were straight men and wanting to go back to DA2's method because they weren't happy with Cass and Josie.   So no, it isn't just the LGBT BioWare fans.  If anything, I've seen several members of the LGBT fanbase that are opposed to the all bisexual system.  That includes me and I guess I have to say once again that not all LGBT fans think alike here.

I personally feel that it was cut for a reason, whether time or characterization or both (sorry, I'm not taking an anonymous "ex dev" tweet as gospel truth), then I respect the developers decision.  I don't want this forced back into the game at this point.  However, I don't feel the need to be rude to everyone that feels otherwise.

By your logic, every character ever is bisexual. Cass is bi since she never says she isn't into women for my male inquisitor, Blackwall is bi since he never says he's not, and lots. That kind of logic doesn't fly with me.

And by your logic everyone who doesn't tell eveyone their sexuality is what? auto-straight? You know, a lot of people shat themselves over Kaidan because obviously since he didn't ask a male commander to sick his d*ck in him, therefore he MUST be straight. Oh wait, ME3 Kaidan...Same people who still claim Anders was super straight, despite Anders flirting with Nathaniel in DA:A.
