I have had noticed that gender has had been no problem when it came to romancing in DAI, but almost impossible with Leliana. Anyway to change that, or is there something you can do to change her cold heart to being a warm friend to your character? In one game my character gas romanced Josephine, another Cassandra(even though that was hard until you found all the Seekers) even the Champion of Kirkwall. But Leliana is another story.

Leliana is not a romance option.

 

Neither is Hawke.

 

And gender does effect who you can romance:

 

Males - Cass, Josie, Dorian, Bull

Females - Cullen, Blackwall, Bull, Solas, Sera, Josie

 

You can flirst with most of them with either gender, but they will eventually turn you down if you aren't the gender that they are attracted to.

I have read in some patchnotes that the game could confuse your gender, but I'm not really sure about that. Maybe it affected romances too?
