It seems like every day someone gets offended by something, calling for bans. Or that we're warned about this and that, or given false impressions by the media.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if someone calls for banning bicycles, cause you can fall and scratch your knee or some bullshit.

You can't mock fat people either anymore, or just use the word fat, or you'll be labelled as a fatshamer. Say retard, and you're an ableist or whatever bullshit word they come up with.

Thank God, most of this crap is online only, but I'm also slowly seeing it creep in to real life situation, hell someone got offended when I used the phrase "man up"

What the hell happened?

That's mostly Tumblr.

And it's quite amusing if you treat it like a sitcom.

First world problems, entitlement, being spoiled and certain agendas in certain universities run amok.

I'm not ashamed to tell women to "grow some balls" when they get whiny. I guess I'm a terrible person.

The problem is people get dumber and weaker each day but their extreme  self confidence and arrogance stays the same. A recipe for disaster.

Society isn't becoming anything. We always had a bunch of people getting offended and thinking that they're owed something because of it.

The only thing that's changed is the words that offend these people, and the internet has given them a place to unify their complaints about being offended.

Kind of hard to say.

Lots of yes but no but yes but no but's...

I think it's mostly people finding it hard to maintain a sense of neutrality when they're passionate about their ideals.

Which is fine.

I'm an advocate for what peeps call "social justice." But I won't go an yell at somebody's face because they're homophobes.

I'll say they're wrong, and argue. But denounce them from my life and never speak to them again? Nah.

But that's just me. Even though I feel strongly about it, I'm never too idealistic to go overboard.

Anyway.

That being said, a lot of people on tumblr aren't even "feminists." Or at least, they derive from the RADICAL strand.

Feminism is a complicated thing with lots of branches, hence why it kind of puts itself down :-/

So in conclusion.

Just try to be fair to everybody and have a balanced, educated opinion about society.

Just don't be fair to murderers.

F*ck those guys.

P.S

Only way to offend me is to take a giant-ass dump on Tolkien.

It is. That is the medical term.

But apparently that's offensive.

Personally i'm not a fan of the saying (I would tell someone to grow up over man up) but I don't see how someone could be offended.

As Cyonan said, there are always going to people who need to toughen up, and if that's the case, the Internet is no place for them. About the word "retard", it is an actual term, but people throw it around nowadays. I have two autistic brothers so I don't really like the word, but I'm not going to jump on you immediately for using it.

Both extremes are to blame.

There is plenty of people being to soft, but there are plenty of people being far to dickish as well.

Everyone else in the middle thinks it would be better if both opposite ends of the spectrum stopped being tools.

Personally I don't care if I am offended.

Someone says "All men are pigs!" Well, okay, keep thinking wrong things.

Someone tells me "You kind of people disgust me." Well, then little unnecessary, but I guess I won't hang around your type of people if you all find me disgusting.

Or heck, maybe I will because I find their disgust funny.
