Yeah digital sales would be nice. Not sure we will ever get those numbers though.
Such careful trolling.

Honestly? I wanted this game to fail as hard as possible.
I dont want Bioware to keep making half baked games which play like boring offline MMO. If they get bad sales, they might rethink where they are heading and maybe start making better RPGs.
Its been a month and they still didnt fix combat and looting on PC. Very disappointed
WoW expansion was released also

Too bad. No AAA RPG developer is making "proper" RPGs anymore. Let's name them - Skyrim (MMO/action game) Diablo 3 (even less of an RPG than Diablo 2) Witcher (removed stats, skills, combat depth and alchemy) and Bioware.
People need to face facts, there aren't enough oldschool RPG fans to justify AAA development costs aimed specifically at that audience. You want old-school RPG goodness? Turn to Indies. That's where I've gone.
Hoping Bioware failed (which they didn't, DA:I has been very successful) will do nothing more than remove one more RPG developer from the world. It won't shift the way big RPG developers are heading one iota.
Too bad alles ist gut.
See what I did there? Little Kevy Bacon x men reference.

Ahhahaaa... Poor little Princess here.
''If I can't have what I want, nobody else gets anything nice either!''
The Defence Force are starting to sound like Kevin Bacon at the end of Animal House
"ALL IS WELL!"
Last we heard, the game is selling better than its predecessors and 'exceeding expectations.' How is all not well, exactly?

They're starting to run out of things to say. Their hopes of DA:I crashing and burning have... well, crashed and burned. Not long now until they'll have to accept that the majority of the market do not agree with their points of view. It will be entertaining to see if the go through the 5 stages of grief or not.

Don't hold your breath, they're still stuck on stage 1.

I expect that many people are going to instantly shift gears from 'this game will sell terribly because it is terrible' to 'this game is selling well because gamers are idiots! Lowest common denominator! MASS HYSTERIA!'
I mean, at the moment only BioWare (and by extension EA) know exactly how it's going, but it sure doesn't seem to be tanking. I'd have been very surprised if it placed higher in the various sales charts given what is on there.
It was never going to crash and burn to the point of selling worse than DA2 - they did spend about 4x longer developing it and they are still Bioware after all. I think you're naive if you believe that they spent that long on it and were only ever hoping it would 'sell better than its predecessors' though. I think they rightly had their sights set higher than that. If not it's about time they did.
Looks like they're going to sell the same ~5 million copies that Bioware games always sell (and which I predicted btw). They don't seem able to be able to break beyond that though for whatever reason, which will be frustrating them (and certainly EA) when the likes of Bethesda seem able to do it at will. These sales will be getting received internally as 'ok' rather than the 'excellent!' they're being portrayed as.
There will be a sequel. I'd either expect it to be scaled back quite significantly from Inquisition (a similar approach to DA2, but perhaps not quite as brutal) or to go all in on chasing the Elder Scrolls dollar. They know they either need to make it in half the time or sell a lot more copies than this.

That figure seems low to me. I think you're going to be disappointed if this number is all you're expecting them to sell.

I believe this to be true, Bioware makes trendy games now. Nothing original or provoking, just a hybrid of whatever else sells decently well on the market. DA:i was a risk, long development time compared to DA2, many new features and a much more action based feel. Quite a radical departure from their roots.
Hope it works for them, if nothing else competition breeds excellence and though I didn't like this game, their success will mean other companies will get better.

Yep. The major changes to the franchise only exist to push sales, it would be pretty naive to think otherwise. The game probably won't be a financial disaster, but it will be a quasi-failure if it doesn't sell substantially better than it's predecessors, specifically DA:O.
Looks like they're going to sell the same ~5 million copies that Bioware games always sell (and which I predicted btw).
I doubt the game will sell ~5-6 million copies like DA:O did. A large portion of the fan base has lost faith in Bioware after DA2 and ME3. DA:I also doesn't seem to be doing a very good job in winning them back either.
DA:O was a tactical combat game, while DA:I is a dumbed down button masher - the mixed reception shows that many Bioware fans are very unhappy with this inconsistency in the series. The fans also don't appreciate that DA:I was marketed as tactical combat game with Bioware full-throatedly declaring that they are returning to their RPG roots, although that couldn't be further from the truth.
Makes sense. DAI's better than most of those games, but BW has alienated too many fans with DA2 and ME3.
2. Most people have horrible taste. Just look at popular music.
I'm just sayin', while some pop music is absolutely terrible because of the subjects they sing about, it is not up to you to decide how 'most people have horrible taste', it's always been a matter of personal opinion, and there are simply more people who lean towards these games/music hence they are more popular. I'd really watch my remarks if I were you.
Are we doing this again? Most game sales this time of year are clueless parents buying games for their kids. The game got rave reviews and EA needs all the wins it can get. This is no way shape or form tells us anything in terms of sequel or budget.
So did ME3 and DA2.
Just sayin'.

It's almost like the gaming journalism industry is hilariously corrupt or something. But surely there would have been a scandal about that.
Basically, even if your sales data were complete to include digital sales, so what? To see clearly you would also have to have holiday sales which are still in the future and related sales, like everyone who is buying new copies of DA:O and DA2 to catch up on what is going on.

Still on track to outsell DA:O which makes it the most popular Dragon Age title to date.
