Both got or are getting sequels. So that only proves my point.
So did Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Your bar's not very high.

I think I wouldn't play anything on that list ![]()
I see 25 christmas gifts and/or games that will most likely never be played by a person who likes RPGs.
Point in case, lol:
I think I wouldn't play anything on that list
So what are the actual sales figures till now?
Top 25 is meaningless this is an RPG it will only sell 3-4 mill at best.
hardly any rpg sells more than that.
what matters is the actual units sold.
This thread is a reverse psychology attempt to degrade the game in a socially 'kind' way.. How? By announcing that the game is "doing poorly" repeatedly and the OP pretending he's "worried" (this is like the Nth time the OPs posted this topic, which is SIMILAR to the last few threads he's started)
This ought to be locked.

Thanks for your expert analysis, bud.
So did ME3 and DA2.
Just sayin'.
Inquisition is getting rave reviews from fans.
dai is 17th, up 5 spots from last week. This list doesn't break sales down by platform though
www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&ct=110015
Comined UK sales week ending Dec 13. A week later than the VGchartz list which shows DAI at 26 in unit sales on a platform. I wonder if that shows a positive response to the patches that have been put out. It would be interesting to see if you see the same pickup from VGchartz and NPD on their next lists.
Basically, even if your sales data were complete to include digital sales, so what? To see clearly you would also have to have holiday sales which are still in the future and related sales, like everyone who is buying new copies of DA:O and DA2 to catch up on what is going on.
In North America, we have Black Friday and now Cyber(?) Monday right after US Thanksgiving Day. Big discounts and people buying stuff in anticipation of Xmas. Presumably family oriented games would have been favoured by shoppers, affecting the relative sales position of mature rated games. In the U.S. DAI with sexual and same sex sexual content probably lost even more position.
I was just looking at a topic started by someone who was introduced to the franchise thru a DAO giveaway on Origins and then brought DA2 and DAI. He or she said she loved them all.

With the help of Korliann I worked out VGchartz world combined unit sales to be about 1.88 milllion.
so in 21 days they've reached half of origins 91 day total. (3.6 million)
excuse me while i slam my head against the break in case of emergency glass.

Don't even try to suggest that this game isn't topping the charts in the US because its edgy. It's the exact opposite. Smushing your characters together for 30 seconds like barbie dolls to simulate sex after some ridiculous dialog hasn't even been a noteworthy thing since Mass Effect was still alive. It' has always been lifeless and tacky, but now your lame pick up lines get their own dialog option with a heart icon so you know that it might lead to awkward Ken/Barbie on Barbie/Ken action. It isn't even titillating.
I feel let down, but I'm not going to blame the world for not finding this game worth their money. It's DA:O stretched thin by open world grinding, progress bar filling, and easily digestible "moral choices." It's worth a play, but people have caught on to the DLC/Season Pass > Remastered/Complete Edition cycle. It might be a long tail game, who knows.

Skyrim?

2nd Thread I have ever made. Thanks for the consideration though. Please get out of the thread! ![]()

Elderscrolls is a phenomena, and shouldn't be looked at as an average RPG. Most RPGs would never sell more than 4-5 million.
I think they'd have been making these charts if that were the case. How many are you expecting?
Well, if you want to take these charts as gospel DA:I has sold over 2 million copies in 3 weeks. Combine this with the rave reviews it's getting, the excellent fan reception is getting, and the fact they'll soon be able to advertise "WINNER OF OVER 60 GOTY AWARDS" you're looking at at 7 mil at the very minimum (if you're taking these charts as a base. Which is what the OP is doing.) Probably close to 10 though.
If you're not taking these charts as a base, the only concrete evidence we have is Jarrett Lee who has confirmed (on multiple occasions that Inquisitions is doing far better than any of the 2 predecessors. You then take into consideration the above points I made (which adds longevity to the sale figures) and you're again looking at maybe ... 7-9 instead.
EDIT: This is just my opinion based on reports of how well it's done so far, and assumptions made regarding sale longevity. Opinions may vary but I very much believe your assumption is too low. We shall see though.

So, imagine for a second that the majority of people enjoyed those games. Except it's not imagination. The majority of people I know who have played ME3 and DA2, despite not appreciating the flaws in both games, STILL ENJOYED THE GAMES - and would buy them again. Meanwhile, the people I know who say that these games sucked or that some feature ruined the entire game (to be fair, repetitive levels in DA2 are much more serious than a "meh" ending) are in the EXTREME (1/10) minority.
But hey, I guess that's what happens when you hang out with people that actually have fun playing games instead of people who demand a game fits into their own extremely narrow interpretation of "good" - and then proceed go onto a message forum and trash the game as much as possible when the game doesn't fit what they want.

It's not gonna happen, but I admire your optimism.

Even I think 7-9 mil copies moved is high. The game will do will enough for a sequel, but 7-9? I don't think even Mass Effect 3 hit that high.
Origins moved 6 million and Inquisition will sell better than Origins.
There are just a few factors that we need to remind ourselves when checking those charts: the game is classed M, it's multi-platformed, it has retails versions as well as digitalized versions. Chances are people are waiting for a price drop before purchasing the game or simply couldn't afford the game on release.
Origins moved 6 million and Inquisition will sell better than Origins.
I'm not so sure Inquisition will do much better than Origins.
Origins came out at a very different time in those consoles lives. Inquisition is a young next-gen title.

Origins was broken on consoles.

Around half that I think, and with better reviews too.
Can't compare Origins to DA I since origins only sold on 3 platforms compared to DAi selling on 5.
To those who bring up it themes of sexuality/progressive as a selling point that push away/attracted gamers . the main trailer had the Inquisitor as male and i didn't notice any scenes of sexual nature on them. I think the trailer tried to sell it on combat and fantasy scenes.
I think DA I will do well because of several reasons : Its not an FPS , its fantasy RPG (outside of Japan) which we do not get alot of each year. Its selling on 5 platforms . And how gaming advertisment is moving onto other media such as TV /Cinema screens ( i don't think origins had much if any adverts on TV)
Dedicated gaming Press will always lavish AAA titles regardless , but most Gamers tend to not visit websites/forums etc. they buy based on adverts and Game stores , my cousin bought the game because it was on the shelf and he wanted to try something new. Asked him about sites like Kotaku/Gamespot/joystick and he was like 'who?'
