We deserve it! We're god damned BSN legends!

Yes we are! We make the world/internet a better place by sorting out all the ugly people out!

That's why I nominate myself as the psychologist.

What better to eval for sanity than someone who if every 5th psychologist had their way would be in heavy therapy and denied sharp objects?

I don't think you'd matters tbh. Nor does BSN help sanity as that video has shown.

As for a society where only pretty people are allowed on the internet, this is a joke proposed by OneWomanArmy and KingTony to mock Leo's idea. I guess this thread has gotten ugly :P . (Bad pun).

Best post in this thread.

The term victim is not "too strong" of a word. The worst victims of it are incapable of fighting back. At least in a traditional manner, which is fighting back.

We also have the issue of the people that fight back but go too far. As such we can end up with mass murders.

I know, but it just feels like that to me.  Probably because bullying takes so many different forms varies in intensity so much that it seems like calling everyone who is/was bullied a victim makes them seem a lot weaker than they are, doing a disservice to them.  It also makes it feel less real and more distant, making bullying seem like less a problem than it actually is.  At least, that's the way I feel about it.

And again, this goes back to people who stand by and let the bullying happen.  imo, if you're going to blame anyone, blame them.  Especially when they join in on the bullying.  All not stepping in to stop it does is encourage the bully/bullies to keep going and disheartens the one(s) being that much more, which, as we've both mentioned, can lead to them taking drastic measures.

EDIT:  Seems way off-topic now.  Man, how threads grow when you stop looking at them for a while...

Yes, I can't speak for everyone but I generally dislike being seen as a victim whenever I am the target of harassment. It's embarassing and implies uselessness and an incapibility of defending myself. It also means the perpertrator "won".

Lol I'm guessing EA was the one with the Noctis avy. No one reps FF like he does.

It's called the Bystander effect.

There's some interesting research on it.

Yes, he was the one with the FF15 main character head avatar.

Since I'm on a roll with definitions in this thread:

vic·tim

noun \ˈvik-təm\

: a person who has been attacked, injured, robbed, or killed by someone else

: a person who is cheated or fooled by someone else

: someone or something that is harmed by an unpleasant event (such as an illness or accident)

:  a living being sacrificed to a deity or in the performance of a religious rite
2
:  one that is acted on and usually adversely affected by a force or agent <the schools are victims of the social system>: as

a (1) :  one that is injured, destroyed, or sacrificed under any of various conditions <a victim of cancer> <a victim of the auto crash> <a murder victim> (2) :  one that is subjected to oppression, hardship, or mistreatment <a frequent victim of political attacks>

b :  one that is tricked or duped <a con man's victim

Those are the relevant definitons.

Victim definitely applies, but I have no idea where you're coming up with the whole "won" thing.

Yeah, I know, and I hate it.  It just infuriates me to know that all those stories of suicide and school shootings that were results of bullying could've been prevented if someone had stepped in and stopped it.

It has more to do with what the word implies rather than the actual meaning.  It's pretty often that words imply one thing when their definition is something else, and it all depends on the context.  As I mentioned, the word itself implies that someone is weak, even if that is never stated in the definition.

Victims are often on the 'loss' end of the spectrum, which, if applied to conflict, implies that someone 'won', which is likely where BioWareBod02 is coming from.
