At some point in a everyone's life, there comes a point where people need to realize that words are only words. Went through high school with people looking and talking down to me. I didn't let the assholes dictate how I feel about myself, and people who choose this mindset make their lives a lot easier, in my opinion.

There are already legal mechanisms in place to combat harassment. While they're not perfect and could stand to be improved, harassment is something entirely different to Saying Mean Words On The Internet, which far too many people cry about as harassment or bullying.

At the end of the day, the person Calling You Mean Things will want a rise out of you more than anything. Starve trolls and bullies of oxygen by ignoring them and they will go away eventually. Exaggerating your "harassment" for pity, financial gain or popularity only exacerbates the situation.

No one likes people whose only claim to relevance is playing up the attacks they've received. Yet it's so easy to listen and believe.

The idea of an internet pass where the "undesirables" are kept off the internet is as oppressive as it is impractical. Simply stick to heavily moderated or selective communities if you wish to avoid people whom you don't want to communicate with. I already do it on some level by staying here instead of going on the DA:I forums and getting dogpiled for my opinions on the game.

Grow a thicker skin, don't feed the trolls and go to law enforcement if you feel that the bullying and harassment goes beyond just words.

People who cry out to end bullying and harrassment are delusional, those are basic parts of human communication and society. Just like war, they're not pretty but will always exist.

 

And I do agree but what is bullying and harassment  is not going to go away it is human nature. The thing is not about crying out it is about calling it out.

 

You can disagree with out the need to bully someone or some group into submission.

 

Engage with the person. Talk to them and take the time to understand their perspective before you retweet it or post it on FB to claim a win.

 

Talk to them first.

Which is why having discussions on this issue are important.

 

I don't really see any connection to my point.

 

I have no objection to productive discussions on the issue. I'm not sure what an open forum with no consensus on what qualifies as "bullying" is likely to accomplish, but I'm certainly not discouraging people from discussing anything.

I have already addressed all of these accusations, Haven't i? The only new thing to add is Deloria's thoughts on it. But I'm not really in the mood to address it as this community is a turn-off for constructive and critical thinking.
