Can someone please explain to me what it is that I have to do to get the Inquisition Banner Crown to unlock? I keep loading up a save file from just before I raise the flag at Suledin Keep (the only unclaimed Keep left in that game) and it doesn't unlock regardless of what I do. Anyone have any idea what to do?

It is currently bugged for some people.  You're definitely not the only one.

Thanks for the reply, it's comforting to know that it's still a problem for other people as well and not just me. (Sigh.) So, no solution or workaround known? Does anyone at least know if this is caused by the patches, or if it pops up in all games, or just in games that were started way back before a certain patch was released? Does it happen in new games started with the current patch? Also, I'm wondering, does Bioware knows about this, and if any fix for it will be retroactive so I don't have to load up an earlier save to take advantage of the fix? I suppose I could just keep a pre-captured keep save file and continue onward hoping, but I feel conflicted about running the risk of putting in more time and potentially giving up getting the banner crown. I know, it's a trivial thing, but I am a completionist who get really obsessed about this.

Plus, I love the look of the complete inquisition banner, and I hate the idea of permanently looking at an incomplete banner every time I pass one. I just can't feel comfortable using any other design of banner, if only for thematic, role-playing, and aesthetic reasons. Alas, no mod exists to fix it, and considering how long people have been reporting this bug, it seems unlikely anyone can or will make a mod fix for this in the future. Guess I just have to hope that either a talented and sympathetic modder notices this and creates a fix, or that Patch 7 comes soon and fixes all the major bugs, principally this one and the amulets of power bug. Maybe someone can just add the Inquisition banner crown to the special deliveries chest or something?

(Sigh.) Oh well, there are other games I guess, and I put too many hours into this playthrough to risk locking out the banner crown permanently if the fix for it isn't retroactive. Still, I would appreciate it if people answered my questions anyway. I'd at least feel a little better if I knew the nature of the problem and how prevalent it is. I'd also really appreciate it if anyone who understands the game's programming could tell me if it were at all possible that a fix for this problem could or would be retroactive; if so, and if it seems likely to be so, that would spare me and anyone else in my position a lot of waiting and worrying.

I've gotten 16 messages about it missing.  It's been that way for a long time.  There has not been a connection to a specific patch, my assertion would be that it was a bug in the initial release build.

As for a fix, recapturing in a different order has been said to help.  Can't confirm this though.  What you've done, where you reloaded from a saved game and recaptured is what I saw work when I saw it happen on the XBOX, but that's obviously not working for you.

I would say just stay tuned to the patch notes.  It is a known bug and it has been reported.  However, minor non-game breaking bugs are not likely to get too much love from the Bioware development team until they really get around to addressing them.  I think we all were thanking out lucky stars when The Fall got fixed in the last patch.  Since no one has been able to give repeatable steps on how to force this bug to happen I cannot imagine that it is an easy one to track down.  By this I mean, the problem with The Fall was a problem for everyone on all platforms.  This seems sporadic for a small percentage of the player-base.  Hence what I'm guessing is a reduced priority on their list of things that require attention.  All just speculation on my part though.

Sorry you ran into this.  Hopefully it works on your next playthrough.

Thank you for replying again, it's greatly appreciated. I suppose I could try loading up a save from before I get the mission to claim Suledin Keep, see if that resets something. That might mean having to load up the save file from just before I entered Emprise du Lion though. Oh well, it's worth a shot I guess, and at least I had enough foresight to always make a bookmark save file before I enter a new area. If it doesn't work, I'd have to load up my save from before I entered the Western Approach, and that is way too much time invested to throw aside.

Shame EA/Bioware has been doing such a poor job with their patches though. I mean really, how could it have taken them this long to fix "The Fall" mosaic? Modders had a solution since December, and it was a very easy fix. Add the fact that they screwed up the Amulets of Power in Patch 5, and didn't undo their mistake in Patch 6, and you have a truly stellar example of incredible incompetence. Seriously, incredulous is the best word I can think of to describe my feelings about this.

It's all about priorities when it comes to bug fixes.  If there is a bug that is breaking the game for players keeping them from playing versus one that is simply an annoyance because they cannot complete a collection... which do you think will get fixed first...?  That is why it took so long.

I suppose, but there weren't that many game-breaking glitches to fix, and most of their fixes were for exploits, which are not as important as actual bugs. Besides, The Fall mosaic piece bug was a straightforward fix that modders addressed quickly, as were the amulets of power after Patch 5 came out. I doubt that it would have taken them much time to include fixes for those problems in earlier patches though. Either way, I can't really say that Bioware's priorities are particularly well thought out. But I'll admit that this particular glitch is unlikely to be anywhere near the top of their list.

Am I the only one that can't find the Silver Knight codex? I've followed the video to the exact same point, but there is no papers there. Does it disappear after you've claimed the landmarks or something?

It doesn't matter which order you do any of it in.  You can grab the landmark, then the codex or the codex then the landmark.  Or hell you can even go grab the landmark, kill a dragon, head to the pub for a  few rounds with the lads and then back to grab the codex and it will still be there.

No changes have been made for that codex entry's location.  I just popped up a fully patched saved game and checked.  If the codex is not where the video shows, then you've already picked it up.  Check your codex entries in your journal.   That area can also be a bit confusing, so make sure you're in the right house.  There are two similar looking houses near one another, where the codex entry is found.

Bump since the forum integration debacle has gotten this lost in the nonsense.
