Hello,
I know this is a really nube question. I have been playing DAI now for a few hours and cannot work out how I can talk to my companions when I want to. I know in DAO you could just go to camp and talk to any real easy but I am lost in this game. Please help!

They should show up as an icon of a head on your mini map while you're in Haven or Skyhold. They don't always have something new to say. It usually updates after you've finished a section of the main story line or one of their personal quests.

You'll get new things to talk about as you get more approval and the storyline goes on, but for awhile some of them do hit a dry spell with dialogue.
You also can't talk to them out in the field - no more clicking to initiate random conversation.
Which I don't mind and rather like. Lost count of how many times I tried to open a chest in Origins and ended up flirting with Zevran...
