I haven't played a Telltale production, so forgive my ignorance if I'm wrong, but from what I've heard, aren't they more visual novels than actual games ?

People say they're like visual novels but they are actually graphic adventures being both dialogue based and of the point and click variety. Visual novels on the other hand feature little to no gameplay outside of dialogue trees and when they do feature gameplay it usually amounts to stat raising. Also included under the VN label are dating sims, kinetic novels and vn-rpg hybrids.

I know what VN are, what I meant was : is there actual gameplay or is it just watching a story unfold with minimal interactions ?

It's an interactive story in its purest form. You watch the story unfold and you make decisions, which are timed. These decisions affect your actual journey through the story without affecting the actual destination.

There are some token pieces of gameplay (you wander around and talk to people, or you walk somewhere and open a door, and there's some basic shooting and action sequences involving zombies) but they're very much of secondary importance.

How many people would play this?
I love dragon age, and I'm thoroughly enjoying DA Inquisition atm (The feels, they're killing me!). However I got the idea on one of the load screens talking about the Great Game. How many people would play a game made by or similar to the Telltale games style? I think it'd be a nice change, the fighting and epic storytelling of dragon age is fantastic, but i'd love to just play a small bit as an orlesian noble and ****** my way to the top ^_^

Or Dragon age 3 with a much more sophisticated telltale path choice structure. or DA3 with a much more sophisticated path/choice structure in a similar way to telltales version plus a story where like in Game of Thrones (Awesome telltale game so far) story where anyone could die or atleast enough could die. If you play the GOT Telltale to the end of the first episode you'll see what I mean. Its as good as the show, better cuz im in control of the story.

I would still call it a stripped down point-and-click adventure game - there's limited freedom compared to a classic point-and-click game since you can't always access your inventory and you're usually limited in where you can walk, but those elements are still there, side-by-side with the quicktime events and dialogue trees.  I also think the time limits on the dialogue choices is another distinguisher from pure story/VN-type games.

I would not want to see a Telltale Dragon Age game. I don't think Dragon Age fans would get what they want out of it.

Would play but this won't happen unless TT gets swallowed by EA.

Well, I believe Failbetter Games (the guys behind Fallen London and Dragon Age: The Last Court) are not part of EA, but they still delivered their very own style Dragon Age game. If both companies think the collaboration would be profitable, why can't they strike a deal? Personally, I would absolutely LOVE to play a Dragon Age game made by Telltale. It would be the best support product ever, I believe.

Off-topic, I can't wait for the full release of Sunless Sea :)

A Dragon Age Telltale gamewhere you play as Duncan

Love the idea. But since Dragon Age The Calling covers already most of the relevant parts of Duncan's life, the devs would risk to create a rather inconsistent telltale game.

You mean one specific part that lasted about... about two months? We could explore his pre-Warden and early Warden days or his time rebuilding the Wardens in Ferelden and rescuing Alistair from the Templars. I think there is enough potential material with Duncan to make a game or two.
