I'd like to craft myself better armor, since I've been using the same one since Day 1 for my character, but I'm having a lot of trouble getting cloth to make light armor. Metal? Sure. Hide? Yep. I get those salvaging weapons I've bought at the store and looted. But cloth is alluding me, since staffs and mage accessories are apparently hard to come by. Is there another way to get the cloth I need and I'm missing it?

Thanks in advance.

Try salvaging armour upgrades/add-ons in the mage category [light armour] and runes. Both tend to supply a decent amount of cloth. Staves also give you cloth, but they're rarer overall than the other weapons, which probably explains your lack of cloth.

Honestly the best mats come from salvaging runes.  If it's cloth in particular you're looking for then you wanna cross your fingers for staves and wizard non-mail armor upgrades.  You should, in fact, be salvaging everything you get minus your best weapons and armor upgrades anyway.  Basically mats come with time.  No need to fret.

Yup, cloth is the hardest to get.   Like the others said, just keep salvaging staves, light armor mods, and runes.

Personally, I've been trying to save up the 9 cloth for the Arcane Warrior all weekend.  I now have 7 or 8 of EVERY non-rare cloth...  Stupid RNG

yep, cloth is one of the tougher items to accumulate.  as mentioned, salvage runes, staves, and unwanted armor upgrades to build up cloth supplies.

:) Am doing. It's a shame that salvaging heavy/medium armor upgrades doesn't give any cloth whatsoever, especially since I need it if I want to make that kind of armor, too.

The material loot in mp is so slow.

One last thing that gives you cloth is accessories (belts, rings, amulets). However, since the RNG is a spawn of satan, you have better luck getting runes than accessories.

To put it into perspective, I have unlocked all the classes and I have only rolled 1 amulet, 3 rings and 0 belts

Other than runes, armor upgrades, and staves, sadly there aren't many other options.

Getting Sidony's Imperium Vest is going to be a giant pain. 18 Cloth for the Inquisition robes then at least that for the Vest. Ugh.

How do you salvage these items? It's probably really obvious but I missed this. I've been selling them.
Thanks for your help.

What are you talking about? Singleplayer? In MP there is no option to sell items. You press Y/Triangle/whatever key it says next to Equip, Back, Examine, Salvage.

Sorry. I'm in single player. I didn't notice this was a MP thread.

It's definitely a struggle. I hope that BioWare changes it a bit in some future patch.

Cloth in general being rarer is one thing, it's sort of self expected given that there is only 1 mage weapon and 2 of every other weapon type.

But why the hell is cotton almost impossible to find? Utility Cloth slot on non-magic classes cry out in pain.

I am rolling in cloth, I think I will make a useless carpet to roll up the cook who ruined the ham.

Just make sure you break everythibg down, keep one weapon of each type and the rest is materials.
