 Game cannot launch because of a misconfiguration. Please reinstall your game and try again.

The game is on all defaults. Do I really have to reinstall to fix this issue on first run?

Getting the same problem. Pre-loaded from Impulse. Imported my ME1 saves. Downloaded/Installed the bonus items from the Bioware site.

Exactly the same for me. Though I didn't install any bonus items, just registered them.

hmmm interesting..before you try reinstalling have you tried running the ME2 configuration utility before launching the game.

It's located within a folder Binaries or Tools within the folder you installed too. Its called ME2Config something like that

try running that setting your options and running the game.

Got an answer in the Impulse forums which worked for me. I had to go to Mass Effect 2/Binaries and edit EACore_App.ini, because the paths in that file weren't pointing to the correct directories. Once I updated it, I got in.

Yes, editing EACore_App.ini to point to the install paths should fix this issue.

Impulse doesn't actually run the ME2 installer which puts the correct paths. They did this with Dragon Age too.

You will have to edit EACore_App.ini to point to the correct paths.

I'm having this problem to but the paths in the EACore_App.ini look correct to me already.

Edit: Also running XP, and this was the digital download version from Direct2Drive. I've also gone through the EA Downloader and activated/registered the copy. The problem remains.

Same Problems here! All paths correct in ".ini" file, but still get this error!
Most frustrating when waiting for months to play and get errors from the start..
Also xp..

I would make changes in the EACore_App.ini file but I don't know what I should be typing in there. The first path leads to "Activation.exe" second does the same and third is something to do with patches. I assume I should replace the first path with an autorun.exe or something like that but I don't know for sure. Can someone post what they put in?

My eacore_app.ini file looks like this:
[EACore]ServerIdleAutoShutdown_ms=15000
UseStandAloneServer=trueSharedServerId=MassEffect2
I don't see any path, But I'm getting the AWC.dll load failure [which I guess translate into this topic's problem from a  search on google said at least] I also have a computer well above the stats that is needed and even recommended for the game, And I preloaded it from Direct2Drive.

What can i do to correct the problem?  It makes me mad when I keep getting Mass Effect 2 not working.  I just picked it up.  It seems like I wasted my money on getting the pc version.Posted Image

My EACore_app.ini file looks just like yours; short and sweet without any mention of file locations.

found a solution, go to the binaries like before, find the file that should be called eacoreserver open that up, it might be blocked by your firewall or at least it was for me. After i unblocked it the game started. Good luck

Still nothing, I tried the solution posted here ( http://forums.impuls...page/2/#replies ) but that didn't work for me either.

I had 1 min left on my Live Chat for EA support and then it canceled on me, yay.

Strange I never got this problem. But after install I've been running straight from the ME2 launcher, not through the Impulse app (which is optional). Also ran the config utility first...

Just wondering, how many of you installed some or all of the additional DLC stuff before running ME2 for the first time?
