Open your EaCore_app.ini file. Highlight all the text and erase it leaving the file blank. Save the file like this and your game should start. This exact same thing happened to me in Dragon Age Origins and this fixed it.
As unlikely as this may seem as a way to play the game, it worked, I am super thankful
EA are absolutely useless, got me going around in circles and then made it seem as if I was stupid and couldn't solve a "simple" problem. Shame they don't take pride in the people they recruit or their games they develop.
