Told you before, its multi-billion dollar business. Of course its real. 32 million people watch finals of League of Legends. Video Games are recognized as art and even sports. And as someone else somewhere noted, from 750 hours this game is out some people clocked 300. Real .. everything is real. Have you seen anything unreal? ;)

The real sad thing is, is that dragon age multiplayer is far from great. 300 hours? Have those people never played a good multiplayer game before?

Don't get me wrong it's fun but yea...wow..

Let's hope they don't play a great game or they may die from sleep deprivation..

Edit now that I think of it, people play Facebook games like that too, guess they don't need to be good just addictive.

1)  Everyone in this world is entitled to spend their disposable income on what they wish and I can guarantee you that each of us spends cash on things someone else would look at as foolish.  Spending $400 on clothes?  Ridiculous!  $400 on a new bike?  Insane!  $400 on new dishes?  Crazy!

2) If the person did indeed spend that kind of money and can afford it I thank him very much.  Without people spending money there is no 'free mp' at all.  Anyone blasting a person for spending real cash while not paying anything themselves is a flat out short sighted, entitled dope.

The MP isnt technically free. You have paid for the game in the first place - and single player and multiplayer in one package have been available since the early 90's. And they have been good, patched and worked on ever since - even without ANY microtransactions. Does it cost more to make games? Yeah. Does it cost more to buy games? Yeah. Do they sell A LOT more units than they did 10 years ago? Hell yeah.

I do agree that people should be able to spend money on whatever they want however foolish I think it is. My argument though as I have stated earlier, is that without (atleast this kind of) microtransactions we would all have a more interesting, fun to play, and less frustrating game. I'm certain of that.

Not really at all, if they did not get revenue fromjpeople buying this stuff there would be no mp at all.  The price of the single player game would be exactly the same.

We would have a lot more fun in single player you mean?  There would be no mp included at all, that I can guarantee you.

It was just example to the point I was making. We all read those "get life" remarks when someone appears to spend too much time on video games. If s/he was playing tennis nobody would be saying that. In the same fashion, if someone was playing tennis and there was possibility to purchase (better) tennis rocket directly, instead of playing matches earning money, nobody would ask if its real.

RNG is RNG and it's set up to have a low percentage chance of paying out a unique lvl 23 weapon. You're not statistically supposed to be able to snag that coveted item quickly and spending real money versus monopoly money doesn't change that fact.

You could be right or you could be wrong.

I never said it wasnt fun though, I just think it would be more rewarding and just simply better.

I mean that's a fine (if not redundant) criticism. One that's been made many, many times. My point is that you're basically playing a slot machine when you open a store chest and using real money over in-game money doesn't change that fact. So the whole "I just dropped $1k on a video poker machine and didn't hit the jackpot" is a pretty common occurrence.

To those arguing with OP for using money: It's their money and their choice.

As for the store, it's pure RNG, as you're buying the same chest just with Platinum instead of Gold. Does the RNG suck? Somewhat. But you honestly must've known that before dropping $400 into it in the first place.

I've made dozens of posts on the loot system because I knew that it was a huge mess and wanted to bring it to bioware's attention asap. Seeing how they consider adding bears and bugs a DLC, I have little hope that they will ever address the loot system properly. That a person can spend this much money and end up with so little good equipment makes this game have by far the worst microtransaction system I have ever seen in my entire life.

The funny thing is, because of how crappy the loot system is, they are shooting themselves in the face (not just foot anymore) because anyone who understands what to expect from large chests will run away from paying real $$$. The joke isn't on the very rare person who will actually buy more than a few large chests with real life $$$, the joke is on Bioware when they see how little platinum they are selling and the player base disappears because people can't take the key bug anymore.

Comedy gold.

I have several epics and the same staff you got with 0 dollars spent...

Like others have said though, it's your money.

The economy thanks you.

What I find most absurd that there is little to do to achieve following:

We are adamant about payments in MP

Customer spends $400

Everyone's happy

The idiocy of the system relies on belief that when the system is "RNG" - in other words customers do not really know what they pay for as their expectations vary based on interpretations of terms like "rare" and "valuable" - it pays out more.

It's fun to see how other people bother to care so much about what I do with the money that i've earned over the years. Yes, I did know about the poor rng system. No, i'm not upset that I didn't get the exact weapon I want. I am dissapointed that I didn't get more than 3 rares above level 20 though.

I'm here to let people know how poorly made the system is. That's what makes me frustrated. Not my spent money, but the loot system. Sure, people have been complaining about it for quite some time now, but i'm yet to see someone who tried the "pay-to-win" method complain. Maybe, just maybe, they will open their eyes when someone who used platinum instead of gold starts to complain.

I decided to put some more money into it in hope of getting something good. This time I got the exact same ring, and a couple of unique weapons. All of them below level 15. None that the character I spend my time on could use.

My intention wasn't to come here crying about my spent money, neither was it to "brag" about my money and earnings. Sorry if it came off that way.

Poorly made? Didn't you just dump $400 into it? Sounds like it's working as intended to me.

Should have spent that money on hearthstone decks at least blizzard rewards their paying customers with permanent rng boosts. Or at least that's my conspiracy theory of why I lose so damn much.

Doubt that they're happy with just a handfull of people doing it, while a remake of the system probably would result in more players spending real money at it.

"

They'll add different chests just like they did in ME3. There's not going to be a "great loot overhaul." Those loot items are really just salvage mats anyway and I expect increased ways/needs to craft.

If it was well-made, a person with enough dough to drop $400 on a game could probably drop significantly more on it too. But luckily, Moyes has realized what a ******-poor job Bioware did and won't be giving them another penny. Well done bioware fix your game.

Is this a real life? Or is it fantasy?

Anyway, this is the effect of:

  • Gear-based gameplay (practically every skill is % of the weapon DPS)
  • RNG store and drop rates
  • Numerous glitches that crash your game or make you unable to join pre-made ones
  • The "murphy's law" when you don't have a warrior/rouge/mage in your team, costing you gold per match (I refuse to believe it's just murphys law when we are missing a warrior and get ONLY warrior doors)
  • All the creatures in the area suddenly rushing to the team at once sometimes wiping the team

No wonder people get desperate enough to pay extra $ for the MP which is so unstable that they should give you an "I'm sorry" free chest every couple of hours. $400 s an extreme case and I kinda doubt that somebody had that much cash to spare and decided he/she'll dump it on DAMP, but even if you spent like $10 on funbucks I think you should reconsider your stance on things.

By paying extra cash for the MP in the current state you approve every bug that currently exists and you approve the company prioritizing bumping up the difficulty (for example - the guarded chests are more numerous after the patch and you can't tell them apart from the unguarded ones anymore, which can lead to a team wipe in public games) over getting rid of game-breaking bugs.

Don't do it. Don't be that man or woman.

is murphy's law a real thing though? its just a meme IMHO

No you are wrong. We know better. We have science on our side.

There is probably a sweet spot:

Too generous a store can kill the game too.

It's easier to add more tantalising chests to a miserly RNG

than to reduce the drops on a system that drops too quickly.

I have no doubt that the EA have all the stats on what drop rates maximise game life, even if it generates some RNG grumbling.

I would not have put 800 hours into MEMP if my manifest had maxed (or if I could have purchased it reasonably) within 100 hours.
