Two things that are completely destroying this game!
After my initial disappointment at discovering that DAI is practically impossible to play with mouse and keyboard, I overcame this first emotion by trying out a gamepad. The game has been fairly fun for a couple of days, until the difficulty of the quests increases and the importance of tactics and strategy becomes more and more important.
Here are two things that are messing up my game experience completely.
The tactical camera is a disaster. You are supposed to get the feeling that it would provide an "up in the air" device flying around helping you to overlook the battle field, but instead of being a help, it just drives you mad. It does not actually fly, as its movement is restricted by obstacles on the ground. If your characters can't walk to a certain point, you won't be able to place the camera there. These obstacles make the camera zoom in out completely at random and even the angle is changed, which needless to say makes it useless.
It doesn't work indoors or in dense forest, as you will get either stuck on the sealing or among branches which you can't see through. These obstacles should at least have to turn transparent for this device to have any meaning, and while it works better outdoors, it does not zoom out far enough to give you a proper overview of all your party members and opponents.
The second thing that is destroying my experience is the AI, where I would dare to be as blunt as to write that I fail to see any "intelligence" in the behavior I observe in my party members. No matter what AI type I set, I find myself running around after all of them in them middle of my battles, because they simply will not follow the orders I give them. Even if I strategically try to place them in positions where they will not get hurt or where they will be able to better use their ranged tactics, the still jump in close enough to dangerous opponents getting seriously hurt real quick. It's as fun as running around after completely wild kinds in kinder-garden!
Please, please BioWare put down some time and effort to address some of these issues. 95% of the game is LOVELY and PERFECT, but the remaining 5% of these problem are ruining 95% of the experience!
Gaaah!
