Tali and Garrus normally, like a few people have said been there from the beginning and are 2 of my favorite characters. Might switch out Tali for LI (if it's not Tali). To be honest ME3 has my least fav squad choices, James Javik EDI not that bothered by.

You're not bothered by Javik, James, EDI, Tali or Garrus but it has your least favorite squad choices? So, what, the Virmire Survivor and Liara are the only two you don't like? Or am I reading this wrong?

Too bad Shepard can't do the beam run herself to avoid the what-the-crap evac scene.

I used to have a modded file that skipped over the evac scene and went directly to Shepard getting blasted by Harbinger. As much as I like the character moments in the scene, sometimes I can't get over the "what-the-crap"-ness.

Bah, there's so much WTF-ness going on, I figure what's a little more, as long as it's fun?

And Ash is so silent in teh second half of teh game I wouldn't deny her one last chance to say someting.  :D

Javik and James, both for the reasons stated in the OP.

Also, I like what it symbolizes at Shepard's side in the final battle: the past and the future.

As to the med-evac... I find that taking the bottom-right, "renegade" (not that this one has any impact on P/R score) option makes this whole scene much less offensive. Shepard clearly indicates expecting resistance/fighting beyond the beam and decides that the injured squadmate is in no condition for that, and the squadmate in question disputes the decision and only begrudgingly goes along with it (which, IMO, is the only in-character response for any and all of squadmates).

Quite frankly, the "paragon" one is plain stupid, since Shepard's reasoning there is to just try to save his own guy, even at the risk of losing everything (including, well, all of his guys). Also the squadmate in question strangely accepts this dumb decision happily, and then forgets one second later and physically reaches out to Shepard before he leaves.

EDI still is still problematic here, but other than that.

Kaidan and James have the top spot in my games (Or Ashley when she's there, but Kaidan's my preferred romance, so...). I mean, this is their homeworld we're fighting to take back, why shouldn't they be there on the front line?

Yep. I'm surprised that James at least is not a required squadmate for the mission on Earth. The platform is required for Chromos, Liara is required for Thessia and Garrus and Tali are required for their missions if alive, so why can't James be required for Earth? It is his homeworld. The same for Ashley and Kaidan if alive or not sent to Hackett.

I believe that Bioware wanted to leave us the choice for the last mission, ending the trilogy with humans fighting for their homeworld or with aliens companions who support Shepard since ME1 (and that we have helped on their own homeworlds in ME3). Humans required for Earth would totally make sense but, all in all, I think I'm happy I had the choice.

I used Liara and Garrus. They had been with Shepard from the beginning. "We Stand as a United Galaxy" is also the message of Hackett's speech, so I prefer using two alien squadmates.

Personally I'm very grateful that it wasn't forced and find it rather troubling that someone would argue that something should be forced in the first place. Again its personal but I myself hate the moments of the game where they impose a certain squadmate to be in your team, especially when it isn't fluid. Some of Tali's inclusion is fluid, I get why she should be there during the geth dreadnaught. It seems objectively the best move. I don't understand the forced inclusion of EDI at TIM's base, Liara being forced on Thessia for sentimental reasons (her emotional instability could even be argued as a possible threat to the overall mission) or having Liara forced during the From Ashes dlc. The Leviathan DLC also forced EDI and James in your party, though in non-combat roles. EDI I can understand (though fail to see why she HAS to be there physically) but James especially felt forced to me.

I'm pretty sure I've even see you mention displeasure at having the Citadel casino mission be 'forced' to only certain characters (though not the same as being forced to one individual, I understand). Taking choice away from the player is not something I would advocate and feel a lot of the issues with the trilogy people have stem from lack of choice. I get why James should be part of the rush but that doesn't mean I think they should FORCE it on us. Let me decide if I want to take him along. Giving players the choice to play the way they want with whom they want is the best way to ensure people are satisfied.

"At least is not a requirement for earth" is actually a pretty big, significant deal, imo. To the point that I don't think its fair to begin it with "at least". As if the LEAST they could had done is to restrict player's choice by imposing his inclusion on the mission. That seems like a very broad perspective for what "least" means, imo.

I used Liara and Garrus. They had been with Shepard from the beginning.

I'll have to remember that next time she asks me to hack some files for her and only teams up when she wants my help with something in ME2. Lol.

They were my choices for my canon run as well.

Although in retrospect I did feel sorry for Garrus. He and Liara had also been the squadmates I used in the finale of Mass Effect 1, which means that Garrus got wounded in every game.

I always bring Kaidan because he's my LI and I wouldn't want anyone else fighting by my side.

I also bring Javik or Garrus.

Javik because taking the Reapers down is what he wants most.

Garrus is my brother. There's no Shepard without Vakarian.

Both good friends as well and Liara my LI, this was no brainer. With EC and the farewell scene, the decision became even easier.

It doesn't matter. Shepard is the only one to make this final journey and choose a.... path.

After all....

The paths are open. You must choose.

But......

I'll away's take Garrus. Always.

There is NO Shepard without Vakarian. These two are the Glimmer Twins of the MEU. Shepard and Garrus...... Brothers till the end.

I should have put a copyright  !

I finished ME1 with Liara and Garrus too, so I also felt that ending the trilogy with them was a good way to "loop the loop".

lol Great minds must think alike.  :P

Yeah me too. They were the two I took on the last mission in the first game and it felt good to keep the 'old' team together at the end.
