i thought about an mmo like swtor - with a good "single player" story line and optional tied in multiplayer stuff...that i think works well and is fun... the multiplayer in dai doesnt interest me cause its completly untied to the story / world...

MMO lol have you ever played different types of RPGS in fact have you ever played DAO? This is pretty much same as DAO as far as UI and design except DAO had even more depth in its design that allowed for even a lot more abilities and slots and an open world as well not sure if as big but same style. This design and style has been in Bioware RPGs since days of of neverwinter nights, baldurs gate, and etc nevermind other old school RPGS and has just been added onto and improved upon with coming age and honestly if anything is a original RPG design more so then MMO and in fact is its just that MMORPGs adopted some of this design into its own but still not entirely the same.

In fact one MMORPG even comes close to feeling like a DAO or DAI is SWTOR and that's because it's developed by none other then Bioware which obviously adopts their own design but still not entirely the same in the end and you can clearly see and feel it and that's because no matter what mmorpgs you play its still never nor can it be 100% same as a AAA RPG on console. While Swtor I will say does come close to accomplishing this since Bioware developed it to feel and play like one of their a AAA RPG as much as they possibly could it still remains and feels like an MMO at end of the day But to answer your question no and he'll no it's fine the way it is and has been since DAO and does not need to become an MMO in fact that would ruin the franchise not make it better since every time a franchise that has headed in this direction it only had a negative outcome and it would be bad for its console supporters since it would likely prevent us from getting another console title for as long as the MMO exsists. Much like WoW is preventing another Warcraft on consoles and Swtor has prevented another Swtor on consoles as well because publishers and developers feel a console title only hurts sales for the MMO counterpart and they never want that.

Besides they have no need to DA does just great sales wise for consoles so there's no need or reason to do so. Lastly anyone who thinks DAI plays like an MMO clearly hasn't been playing RPGS for that long at least not Bioware RPGS which btw started on PC as a lot of these type of RPGS did and should do their research on all types of RPGS in general including MMORPGs then they would understand that if anything MMOs borrow a lot of its design from these types of RPGs from early days of RPGS on PCs before MMOs exsist end and not the other way around.

NO

**** THAT

I'm still pissed that they made that shitty MMORPG nobody asked for out of Knights Of The Old Republic while they had the rights to star wars. Now we will never see Kotor 3.

I'm glad they didn't make an MMO out of Dragon Age. I guess the overbudget fail that was The Old Republic and the fail that was that Elder Scrolls MMO scared them off. Good riddance.

DA:I looks like the type of game that would be better played in Co-Op on harder modes than relying on the bloody AI.

That's because of bad game design though.

I don't know, I think having an MP aspect is interesting, but I can't see it fitting into story mode. The current one is only designed to reap micro-transactions. There's no character customization. That's the first flaw and that is where I left it at.

I like single player RPG's done right. That's the problem here. It feels like something is missing, but it's not other players.

The best RPG in my recent memory is Dragon's Dogma and that game actually would lent itself perfectly for coop play because of the pawn system.

c) the ui and mechanics as well as quests are already pretty set up mmo style and the multiplayer portion of the game has these mechanics nailed down as well

I'd honestly love to know how an MMO UI is different from a regular UI - you are still doing the same quests, using the same mechanic but now there are other humans running around stealing your kills... Are you talking about them adding a chat box or what (which they didn't, by the way)?

a) i think the combat mechanics are very interesting - they are dynamic enough, offer good customization, have some good mechanics (no healing, not 100% but "50%" trinity, shield direction, flanking, the way items are set up for damage tec.) and is still quite tactical and not too twitchy

You expect an MMO without healing to be successful when the people you are going after (WoW players) have been used to the traditional setting? That seems unlikely to work, but then again all WoW killers are doomed to fail, although I suppose there is not much of a difference between a healer spamming heal on the tank or a mage spamming barrier on the tank.

d) you already have extensive lore and a believable dark fantasy world which is nicely set up for a 2 faction system...mages vs templars - or even with a third party (chantry or neutrals or elves/dwarfs/qunar/non humans)

Serious, mages versus templars? Could you come up with more unbalanced factions - OK, let's give one faction all the healers, and the other faction gets all the rest! That will make for balanced PvP!.

SWTOR has gotten leaps and bounds better since release... and i don't know why there are  those people that always have to act like you're speaking for a majority or group... if you think your view is valid stand by it without having to invent fake masses to stand behind it.

Nor should one undermine an individual's view by suggesting the majority don't agree with it when they may well do.

I can't say I'm particularly interested in yet another medieval fantasy MMO, as distinctive as the Dragon Age setting may (or may not) be.

And I love the genre, so...

I don't want a Dragon Age MMO.

I feel that the character development, the story, etc. would suffer.  Other players would be sure to break immersion, or harass me for being a woman, etc.  Also it would surely be either subscription-only, or pay-to-win, on top of already paying a large amount of money for the base game.  No thank you.

My biggest concern about making Dragon Age into an MMO, though, is that it would mean we probably would never see another of the singleplayer games.  This is a trend for most of the companies that end up making an MMO out of their previously single-player franchise.  I would rather see smaller singleplayer games interspersed with the larger singleplayer games.

I would NOT really mind, however, having a form of cooperative multiplayer, along the lines of Borderlands 2 perhaps--with a better story.  It would be nice to be able to have friends take over your party members, but it would become quickly awkward in a game with player-to-party-member romance.  So for that to work, romance would have to either be non-companion only, or completely removed from the game.  And, people would not like that.

Why people keep saying this when it is not true? Forget Hinterlands, the Hissing Wastes are welll worse. It is all awful...
