Is Dorian our first Tevinter human companion? Never played DA2.
It feels like a goodbye, doesn't it?

I believe so. Fenris was an elven slave from tevinter, but I am pretty sure dorian is the first human companion we got that hails from Tevinter.

Then maybe they are trying to humanize Tevinter a bit (because Dorian is amazing) before we go there in a future game.

It's going to ****** a lot of people off, Tevinter, the Qun, the North in general is MUCH less tolerant of homosexuals and free thinking. They can't just recton an entire way of thinking that has been entrenched in the lore of 3 games. I'm personally ok with this as it's realistic to the lore, but I get the feeling the PC knights will be up in arms protesting bioware not being progressive because those kind of people are "what have you done for me lately"?

well tevinter seems okay with it if it is behind closed doors, one of the magisters after all is a trans-woman. But Tevinter is a much darker land, the whole slavery thing, the abuse that the mages do, the blood magic and so forth are all reasons for people to dislike it. The thing that I dislike was how Krem said that tevinter is also sexist against women. I dislike it mostly because I never got that from tevinter before that conversation.
But the north looks to be a much darker and gritier land to explore.

Which is why I'm on the fence about going there. I don't want BW to dumb down the tension just to please those who think the world can be all sunshine and rainbows. If we get tevinter I want it to feel authentic.

Why couldn't a future game take place in or near Tevinter? It's not like Orlais or Ferelden were sunshine and rainbows either. Maybe Dorian will with the Inquisition's help rebuild Tevinter into something better? I could see that being in the Codex in a game taking place in the future.

Edit: and if DA4 is about turning Tevinter into 21st century San Francisco they can stow it.

Thank the Maker. The series needs a clean break, just like Mass Effect.

I assume you're referring to homosexuality - they have way bigger problems than that, like um, slavery? Blood magic? I doubt that Tevinter would be the sole focus, but it could play a larger role or you could be able to visit. Sort of like Orlais in this game.

- Who was Andraste?
- Is the maker real?
- Is Flemeth truly dead? Its not the first time she has "died", and this death was even more ambiguous.
- Is Solas trying to free the elven gods he locked away?
- Will the Warden succeed?
- Where is Hawke now?
- What is the Prime-Evil Thaig?
- What are the Old Gods, and why are they (apparently) already corrupted?
- How did Red Lyrium spread so fast?
- Why is there Red Lyrium in the Raw Fade?
- Where are the other Magisters?
- Enchantment?
I'll be sad if we permenantly leave Orlais, but I'll be glad to see the rest of Thedas, especially the Qunari and Tevinter. I want to settle that war, and I want to see if Tevinter is as bad as it seems. I want closure for the Dalish, and see if they can achieve success on par with what Briala can (possibly) achieve for City Elves in Orlais. I want to see Flemeth again because Flemeth is infinitely cooler looking than Solas, and I want to if Solas will succeed, and what happened there at the end. I want to know the answers to the above questions, I want to see/join the Antivan Crows and meet up with the old companions from DAO we haven't seen again (Sten especially) and I want want want want want Bioware pls

I wasn't referring to any one specific 'issue' Tevinter might have, but the culture in general. It's a potentially interesting setting *because* of those issues, and I will roll my eyes if the first thing we do there is set about 'fixing' all of their social issues. Even worse if we actually succeed. I don't want to 'fix' their society; I want to revel in it as it is.
I just hope we at least have the option of being a Tevinter ass Tevinter, and it isn't just assumed that we all want to be Dorian.

Frankly I feel like there is alot of things unexplained that leaves a crap ton of stuff open for a sequal:
(from MisterjB's TC)
"Where is the Warden?
In the West, trying to end the Calling."
Seemed to be the case even though it seemed my warden was constantly reported missing even by Liliana.
"What happened to Hawke?
It varies depending on whether you sided with mages or Templars in DA2 but s/he ends up dead missing in the North."
Also seemed to depend on who Hawke romanced too. Like for instance my first DAI playthrough I had a Hawke romance Merryl and she said she "took her out of the aquation" (didn't want her involved)
"What does Morrigan plan? Where is she?
She insinuates herself into the Orlesian Court and seeks to preserve ancient wonders for their own sake.
She has also become a devoted mother in certain playthroughs."
Also depending on what you do in DAI seems to depend on her outcome as well. I say she isn't going to be gone. Their is a high potential (depending) she may play an important part in the next one
"What happens to Cassandra or Leliana?
They become important figures in the Inquisition; undergo their own character arcs; and can even become Divine."
Or have a "odd turn of events"
"What are the Eluvians?
Ancient elven portals that allowed one to travel between Eluvians."
True in a sense. However if you remember the Dalish Elf storyline your Warden has one break on them and gets infected with a demon like virus issue which can be curable by "different means". Honestly I was shocked in DAI nothing bad happens to your character when you entered it.
I still have unanswered questions though:
What is Merryl doing right now since my Hawke seperated herself from Merryl to participate in DRAGON AGE INQUISITION.
Did my Hawke truly do nothing to Isabella? My Hawke issued a kill order on her after killing the Tal Vashoth Qunari in act 2 in DRAGON AGE 2. Varric sure said "she became a admiral" but my Hawke did want her dead so...
What was the fate of any of the other DRAGON AGE AWAKENING characters (dwarf scout girl, Vellana, Justice). It seemed depending on the epilouge different things do happen. Like for instance I had Vellana stay and educate other elfs in her lost lore and she was inspired to write while others she vanished to pursue her sister. I do not know if Justice had any different outcomes but I know he returned back to the fade. However surprisingly I never came across him in DAI since he's like a protector.
Depending on his survival is the ArchItect going to return in a DLC or something? he's mentioned in the DRAGON'S KEEP
Still many many more to cover....*sigh* lol. LET THERE BE A SEQUAL!

Huh?
Okay, back up. The eluvian in the Dalish Elf origin was somehow cursed with the Taint. When Tamlen touched it, he was Blighted as was the DE Warden. It was only through an intense use of elven magic that your Warden ended up surviving long enough to meet Duncan. Tamlen hadn't been seen and you do see him later, in a fashion. Anyhow, when you go back to investigate the area, Duncan goes and breaks the mirror.
The reason why the Inquisitor was just fine is the same reason why Morrigan was: There was no Taint attached to the mirror she used, as well as the one the Inquisitor uses.

There's a chance Dorian will be back either as a companion or a cameo as an ambassador of the Inquistion to Tevinter.
The Hero of Fereldans story will likely continue in whispers.
Varric may show up again either as a companion or a cameo as he searches for Hawke.
Depending on the outline of the next installment there's also a chance for Bull and Cullen to cameo as well.

I I agree with the thoughts that bioware is
- not ending the series, just closing a chapter
- tying up loose threads that fans may have latched on to but they do not want to continue
- setting up new plot threads for future games
The reason for this is that I don't think Bioware didn't have a clear road map of where the series was going. The 1st game was an experiment with lots of potential to go different ways. Its success, and that of Mass Effect, lead Bioware to see it as a franchise they could develop. The problem is that some of the plot threads could hold with the fans ( e.g. the Old God Baby), but not so much with the Devs. Since DA2 didn't answer these questions the Devs felt they had to answer them otherwise the fans would be pissed (... more so than usual, fans are always pissed). DAI is probably being used to clear up these plot threads for a cleaner slate for the ongoing plan they have for the franchise.

Oh yeah huh. I forgot the whole "Taint thing". However this may factor in for yet another sequal idea. Since Corepheus was sent to the fade at the end and knew how to use red Lyrium as a powerful weapon......he may know how to taint Elivians? Morrigan does feel this may be a possible goal of his besides potentially using Eluvians as weapons (dimensional transportation).
