Hai so i have narrowed it down to that I like to play the magic knight/spellblade/Dark knight classes in rpgs generally and i tend to favor Darker powers as for example Dark magic or what ever you want to call it as it tends to be more damage focused (I like big numbers xD).

The thing is that as i'm not to good at keeping enemies away from me so i favor in the face type of gameplay instead of the classic pew pew mage gameplay. But I still like magic no let me reprise that I ****** love MAGIC as it facinates me to no end it's the only thing that could bring someone beyond their physical capabilities. So I could use some input/some help to choose an apropriate class to complete my first play with.

To short it down I like Dark magic, In your face gameplay, Big damage, Swords and Plate armor (not really a requirment but i like it better than cloth and leather). Anyone know which class could fill most of these requirement? please leave your thoughts below.

(I have heard about the Knight enchanter but people say it's op and don't really do much dmg. Don't really know much about the Reaver. Do they gain power from some kind of magic ritual thing?)

I know one that may fit three of those, which is a two handed reaver. I personally think it is suicidal to do that, but if you build right, you could dish out big damage

Yeah Reaver definitely fits the whole "dark magic" theme since it's somewhat similar to blood magic.

Necromancer also sort of fits that theme.

Knight Enchanter fits the spellblade theme though.

In the face gameplay: Knight Enchanter or Reaver both work. Knight Enchanter is facetank everything solo. Reaver is sorta hybrid rogue-warrior gameplay, you are kinda tanky with heavy armor and all, but you still should try to avoid getting hit as much as possible.

Sword and plate armor... well Reaver gets that. Knight Enchanter you use basically a lightsaber though, so kinda like a sword. Plus silverite as primary armor material allows for use of plate armor on knight enchanter.

Knight enchanter is basically unkillable once properly specced/itemized and does decent DPS (similar to or maybe higher than SnS warrior, which also is practically unkillable). Reaver is very killable, but does lots of damage.

No class fits exactly what you want, what I mean is there is no dark mage with heavy armor and swords. Other than that as others have mentioned reaver is pretty cool and it could fit your description since Dragon's Rage is kinda magical ( you summon some really awesome red claws for your attacks) and does high damage not the highest in the game but it's up there. Surviving as a reaver isn't a really a problem unless you go nightmare and even then its debatable.

Knight Enchanter is most likely the most sturdy class in the game along with Champion warrior and it can deal massive damage if you spec him into fire/frost. I got up to 12k fire mine crits. However the knight enchanter isn't much of dark magic. A benefit of the Knight Enchanter is that you can go either melee or range and still do well. Hope that cleared it out a bit good luck.

My Experience, Reaver & KE both get bland, but Reaver was a tad bit more fun. Dragon Rage + 2h Weapon w/ Heal on Kill. Anyone say Reaver Train?
Im going out of my element and doing a DD Artificer

The Dragon Age Universe has a pretty narrow definition of what is magic and who uses it, so there isn't much room for hybridism.
Dark magic doesn't exist in this game, there is just magic. Many people who work with you on the Inquisition have strong ties with the Chantry and support the idea that mages should be leashed.
Armor for all classes look like a mix of plate, leather and cloth. The only full Plate Armors that I know of are the Templar and Legion of the Dead ones, but they have both Race and Class restriction and would make no sense on a Mage.
Knight Enchanters are Mages who use a sort of magical sword, but there is nothing like dark magic about them. Lore-wise they are under the Chantry.
Necromancers are mages who use spirits to help them, at least in theory. In practice they are pure mages casting spells.
Reavers are mad warriors who deal more damage the less health they have. No magic whatsoever here.

I think it is better just to play Dragon Age the way you see fit, without bringing much baggage and established views from other high-fantasy sources.
