Yes skyrim had a few quests where taking companions was problemattic with crowd control, but it works very well most of the time -they don't bump into you even with keep close active -depends on the model you use.  My biggest complaint in Bethesda games is water management - Bethesda has never been able to get it right (ESO) and modders have struggled with this in many ways to no avail. Here, Frostbite wins hands down!

I just attempted to try a few things suggested here and the targeting system locked up while I was playing with it -probably an underlying controls issue, but it does get at the inconsistency.

So Game of the year?

:( Hard sell, the character creator can crash 2 out of 3 times and that is before you ever play.

 Everyone you have worked with sets a mine (bug) on the playground, its hard to ignore.

B) My metric for quality may be too high, but I'd rather not replay this one -represents lost value.

;) However, the academic value of Frostbite's potential on future game play is not lost!

Elhanon-  Sorry, the quote function on this board isn't working for me.  Sounds like you've been putting in about 10 hrs a day into the game since its release.  70 hrs was enough to do me in and I would vote a Mahjong clone for GOTY over this.  Way too buggy for a AAA release.

With my second playthrough, I'm encountering a frequent glitch where I can't even switch to my other party members to make them move out of fire, take potions, use tonics, or do anything useful.

Ah yeah, that is something that occasionally happened to me as well. PS4 version. Saving and loading a file seem to always fix it. But **** you if it happens in a heated battle, especially during stuff like the defending the catapult section on in my heart shall burn.

Or the stop using Charging Bull after running into the enemy passive.  Or the Bioware brags about its Ai system but in reality its pretty **** ability buff.

I want a 'don't block me in the damn doorway skill' or at least the option to attack my companions to make them move. Oh wait. They don't move when they are attacked. They stand there. Even as they die. They still don't move. They scream to retreat but they don't move.

God I miss Dragon's Dogma where they actually RAN from danger. I remember having to teach them things for knowledge and I had to carry them to the danger so they would learn whatever the specific thing was. And they would roll or run right out of it. And I'd have to do it again. I'd have to disarm them to keep them from being good AI and that was even with minimal knowledge. With nearly full knowledge it was nearly impossible to make them bad AI to try to trigger that last bit of knowledge. They were brilliant I tell you. My pawn never stood near dangerous things. Okay he would go into the water than complain about getting drenched which was hysterical. But his knowledge even at half full allowed him to know exactly what attacked he needed to use on what enemies. Just give him the right weapon and BAM! No worrying about standing in fire, foolish drowning, even blocking doorways was easy because you could double jump over them. God I really miss that game. Why did I get right of my xbox. WHY? WHY?! WHY??!?!?!??!!?

For the NPCs the Jump skill has been replaced with Stand On Every Table You See ability. On the upside, it has no cooldown.

Really? I get the NPCs "Standing in midair" ability, my requisition officer was able to stand on my head in the Hissing Wastes.

Didn't you know the Inquisition is actually a troupe of acrobats that has taken some time off to save the world :)

They do this all the time at the merchant in hinterfell. They jump all over the damn cart like idiots. Like hyperactive idiots. Sometimes they just run back and forth in small areas like total tools. I don't know who designed them to do this but they are like hyperactive children and the humor of it left a long time ago.

My requisition officer runs away from me...I run after her trying to click on her as she climbs cliffs to get away from me. Drives me bonkers.

That one is an issue related to when the keyboard, mouse or controller stop communicating properly with the RPG module except it is only Function keys that are affected and is usually temporary or it gets worse and things lock up. You could save the game and it probably will not occur again for some time, there is probably some trigger gone amiss, but locking those down is a bigger issue.

I looks like you have an instability issue check your quests for any conflicts.  What's going on is a boundary condition error. Frostbite is unique in how it deals with boundaries to produce visual effects and sometimes the technology introduces errors and these can cause frostbite to crash -if you see rubber banding quit ASAP.

I have had a similar prob with my req officer in that you have to chase her down through brush and rocks/ledges.  Irritates the hell out of me.

This old chestnut from my WoW days comes to mind:

"Why are you still in the fire?"

"Was I supposed to go out of the fire?  I thought I was supposed to go in the fire?"

Edit: I figured I'd mention that I agree with the OP.  The companion AI in this game can be extremely suicidal, especially on dragon fights.

I've actually said this to my monitor while playing my Cadash archer, in Vivienne's mode of speaking:

Me (getting annoyed): Solas, my dear, you are not a warrior.  Why don't you come back here with Varric and I and do save yourself the trouble of dying?  I'd truly appreciate that, darling.

*shakes fist*

You beat me to it!

How about the " Yes, Cassandra, let that fireball hit you directly in the forehead despite you having a shield" skill?

I think it's great that the companions run around like headless chickens most of the time. They totally draw the fire off my mage, making it way easier to stay alive. Sadly not for Varric or Solas though.lol ;)

Joking aside, BioWare might want to work a bit on the characters' behaviour for the next patch, if that is possible.

This makes me really miss Dragon's dogma. Best shield skills ever. Even the dumbest AI knew how to block.

Are you playing as a Qunari? After what happened in Kirkwall it is understandable that some people might be afraid of the Qunari. Or it could be a case of her suffering from PTSD. She is a veteran of the Battle of Ostagar after all.

Sorry, I understand it must be annoying, but it is quite hilarious too. Also, I am happy that there's a bug or a glitch or what you want to call it, that I am not having to deal with since I seem to have gotten pretty much everything else.

I'm a Mage elf with really skinny arms and not that threatening.  It's jast as if the RO will say she has something to report and then tries to go hide.

It's as if the company formed a group of "yes men" who were only capable of saying "Wow! That's great!"  instead of pointing out these ridiculous flaws.

I believe this is the key to understanding Bioware. Regardless, the yes men wouldn't be a problem if there was competency in the design team in the first place.

Exploration is great to have, a variety of different areas; also great. But what use is all of this if GAMEplay is terribad?

From abominable asymmetry in the combat system, a shallow ruleset and banal character progression to no-miss-ever (too FRUHSTRATION).

Well, maybe she wants your mage to chase her? She might have a crush on him/her. Or something... I don't know, but as far as glitches go, this one is pretty darn funny. At least to read about. I get it that it will make you want to kill the RO after  awhile.

A friend of mine was forced to endure the cut scenes in Haven with his character dressed only in underwear like some horrible stress-related nightmare. I thought it was funny as hell.

When there's this much suck in a game, you have to be able to laugh at it.

True. Have you seen Solas do "The Solas Shuffle"? He does it every time he walks into one of the houses, especially in the Hinterlands. It looks like he is trying to moonwalk but completely messes it up. :D
