There are two perks that increase your inventory capacity by 15(?) items each.
Other than that, sell, sell, sell.

Find a merchant and sell off the stuff you don't want to keep. Works wonders.

3 playthroughs, never had a problem.
If something was worse than what I had, I marked it "Valuables."
If it was better, I equipped it.
I kept maybe an extra staff or something around on occasion and I did keep higher level weapons/armor if I would use it in future but couldn't currently equip (rarely had more than 1-2 of these, maybe 5 at most - generally only kept the best of these).
But I went back to camp frequently and sold every time I came across a merchant or my hold during certain parts. Sometimes I would only have 3 things to sell - it wasn't usually full. A few times it was almost totally full. Only once, in the Fade in one playthrough where I forgot to sell before the mission, did I need to destroy anything.
I guess people don't return to base like I do?
There are the 2 inventory upgrade perks, but I never took them.

I enjoy crafting so I just sell the gear i find and make my own.

Keeping tab of how good everyone's weapons and armor are helps a lot, you can fast travel straight to a merchant in a zone to sell off anything you know is worse and then go back to whatever you're doing. Can use the horns at the camps if you have bad memory and don't want to go back to Skyhold.

Im level 8-9 and finding level 10-11 equipment. Inventory got full fast and i feel like im losing out and constantly micromanaging. This is awful
Agree with you that the micromanagement sucks. I probably spend 1/2 hr out of every 3 managing inventory. Those higher level weapons are a dime a dozen so just sell it. Even most of the "rare stuff your finding is easy to find all over. I'm 100hrs in and level 15 and finding the same stuff as I did at level 5. Just make sure your party is equipped with the best stuff you have and sell the rest. I never perked that carry cap upgrade. To me it was a waste, but the trade off is managing more often. I can carry 60 items now and can sell of over 30 items usually. My inquisition level is 10 now and I'm thinking of adding that one soon just to be able to sell more and earn gold faster.

Mostly by discarding my RPG sensibilities of wanting to keep every Unique item. If an item isn't equipped by someone, and isn't going to be equipped by someone, I sell it. Even Rare Purple Dragon drops. Superb Ring of Critical Chance? Awesome. Is anyone gonna use it? If no, sell it. Yes, you can't get it back. But if I wanted it, I would've equipped it already.

mainly just get the two perk's, and sell or destroy every thing your not wearing "Valuables mainly", even though you want to do the requisition quest's, you will overload trying to keep the stuff for them.
It is very sucky, that the stroage is so small, but every time I say something about it in the forums, I normally get this answer
1. You don't have to do all the requistion quest's, just do the main story, and ignor all the rest. Latter you can go back, and do all the other stuff you did not do the first time, but just forget about the Requisition quest's. The inventory is plenty big enough. "Yeah Right!"
I personally thing that is a crock of Bull, and think the inventory is like very Bogus! but hey I am in a minority on this one, most every one else seem's to think it's just hunky dory!
I probably spend more time selling, and sorting inventory so I have room to go out, and explore a little more than actually playing the game.

I sell everything and craft what is needed for the most part. Would be nice to have some method to decompose items.

I get by with 75 inventory slots. There's no reason to keep anything you aren't using except for really good drops you can use in a level or two. I stopped picking up every common armor or weapon after lvl15 because the gear is at least 5 levels lower than what I am using already.

When I noticed I was getting low on space, I would always bounce back to Haven/Skyhold and check the companions equipment. I'd also check my quest journal for any requisitions I felt like working on. Anything that wasn't useful got sold while I was there. Also, I always cleared my inventory before hitting any long term dungeon. Between those habits and the perks, I rarely ran out of space.

I actually like inventory system. I've learned to hoard less and have made money to buy things as well as get plenty of resources to craft fabulous weapons and armor for my companions.

Can I ask, is there a storage system back at Skyhold like the chest in Hawke's mansion that I am missing or is there nothing?

I wish there were. I can manage but there are somethings I would like to put aside for safekeeping, instead of selling. Hopefully BW will include one later on.

It is a bloody long time to get the ability to choose ONE perk, and then you need to get three perks in Lelianas' perk list to be able to do those stupid doors on the minimap that display as quests. After that you are maybe level 15-16 before you gain access to biggest bags and that's if you don't want to upgrade your potion stock.
Those perks are a joke, seriously.

Would be nice if DA:I had a transmog feature like WoW does. Would have loved to run around saving all of southern Thedas while being seen wielding a cheese wheel shield.
Ending up selling it like most other items, even the ones that look neat due to schematics and crafting being the best option.

Agreed here. Those perks are just too valuable to waste on inventory upgrades, for me being to lazy to manage it better. I'd rather spend those perks on other things more worthwhile, that opens up story lines, or gains extra xp on things, or opens up better weapon schematics. Even having to spend a perk point on adding that third radial slot, or upgrading potion carry to 12 is a joke to me. There are too many other perks that it sure would be nice to have rather than wasting one just to be able to carry 12 potions. But the potion one is pretty much a necessity later on in the game. I got away with only 8 up to about level 14, but there's no way I can only have 8 anymore, I was basically forced into getting that when fighting the higher level enemies. I won't do the inventory ones though, I'll tolerate the micro management vs wasting a valuable perk, when they're so hard to come by.

Sell everything and craft instead.
Loot is pretty rubbish in this game IMO. Only good for allowing you to purchase crafting schematics.

Creature research and selling. There isn't much to it. Even those "for level 13" when you are level 8 things aren't much worth hanging onto as you will get them again by level 13 and/or craft better before them. Like the man at the end of Trading Places says, get back in there and sell.......sell!

This....it takes a lot of fun out of the game, but I feel this is how it was meant to be. Sometimes I don't even check chests anymore.
I would rather play the game then play endless inventory management and load times.
