I have seen Vivienne get a substantial amount of hate. I just want to know why you hate her. Personally, I love her. She's crazy. I like crazy.  ;)

Well, if you're morally opposed to the Chantry controlled Circles, then it's easy to disagree with Vivienne's ideological position about restoring the status quo of the Circles. Vivienne also doesn't take disagreement well, can be rather petty with the Inquisitor who has opposing goals to her own, and seems to think the rumors she's heard about the Dalish make her more informed about the People than Lavellan's life experiences as one.

I'm sure your mileage may vary.

What?

If you meant my last line, simply that your opinion on Vivienne can vary depending on how you feel about her attitude and her ideology - such as whether or not you agree with her position on the Circles.

I hope a DLC lets me make her tranquil.  She wants the system back where other mages were made tranquil for minor offenses, so I think she should get it.

When did she say she supports mages being made tranquil for minor offenses and how is that worse than you wanting her made tranquil for not sharing your opinion?

No idea where the all hate is coming from, maybe because our views are pretty similar and that the mages should be locked up in a circle and be controlled for their dangerous power.

Vivienne is a woman who wants and loves power, and will do anything to get it. I guess after you figure out shes a good player of the game you begin to question her true motives. I know i did and then she became the divine, I know i'll be changing that in my Keep Canon. <_<

I stopped talking to her after awhile so I'm not sure if she said that but if I recall right she's about the only one that approves when you use tranquility as a judgement.  Although Erimond was of course not guilty of a minor crime.

I wouldn't get along with someone like her in real life but I like her a lot in the game. I'm a big fan of characters having strong opinions and views, even ones I might not agree with. Not everyone has to kiss the PC's ass or think whatever the PC tells them to think. Even if I did find her personality and views intolerable (I don't) there is no way I could hate someone who is so useful on Nightmare. Seriously Vivienne is a beast!

I haven't used that punishment on anyone yet however thanks to Youtube I was able to watch the outcomes to find out for myself. Yeah she approves if you make Erimond Tranquil but so does Bull and Cass. Cass and Bull approve if you make Alexius tranquil but Viv doesn't approve or disapprove from what I saw. Neither were guilty of minor offenses.

She's too uppity for me plus she used me for her own personal gain. If the game would allow you to kill your tag alongs, I would have done her in.

How could you?

But nah Varric's more Hawke's bro :( He almost made me wish we were playing Hawke in Inquisition. Almost. (Plus Fenris reaction to Dorian and IB would've had me laughing my ass off).

Yeah I totally accept him as Hawke's friend at this point. He feels more like an acquaintance in DAI.  I wish we were playing as Hawke, Fenris banter with IB and Dorian would have been golden. I actually think poor Fenris would have popped a blood vessel eventually.

I can't decide whether I hate her or like her, to be honest.

I hate her stuck up attitude and her chantry arse kissing, but her insults and how she talks to some people are just priceless. Plus, she's handy with difficult bosses and dragons.

A "Necessary evil".

What a world when having your mind drugged into puddy, being bound and having your lips stitched shut is being brought down to earth.

This woman literally wants to go back where all mages were pratically slaves and she was the chief amongst them

Actually, the thing she says if you talk to her about the Circle and the Mage rebellion totally make sense from a political point of view. She says that Fiona had horrendous timing in her vote for independence, as she choose to do it in the aftermath of a "mass murder by magic". She points out that this vote has practically spelled out that mages condoned what happened to Kirkwall Chantry, thus fueling hate towards magic. She says that you may denounce templar's abuse, by all means, but you need to do it in a way that doesn't put mages against people. Of course this is very cold and very political and I understand that you might not like that in a character. Personally, I have a totally different agenda and certainly my Hawke would have challenged her in single combat for the freedom of mages, but I can see myself shaping an Inquisitor that agrees with her views. It's far more complex than "she wants the status quo back because she wants her power back". Vivienne has power regardeless of Circles.

I'm pretty sure you hit the nail right on the head with this one.  Preference of companions in fantasy video game seems like a solid way to judge a person's character.

She's pompous, annoying, overcompensating for what you find out in the fade and antagonistic. Bioware did a great job creating the typical aristocratic stereotype.

Just sabotage her potion if you don't like her.
