So I've seen a lot of builds tossed about for a number of classes, but few for the Necromancer, Sidony. So here, for your consideration, is my (tentative) Necromancer build (and yes, I play 360 and no, I don't care what you think about that):

Active Abilities:

X - Blizzard+Ice Storm

Y - Winter's Grasp/Flashfire

B - Walking Bomb+Virulent

RB - Horror+Despair

Passive Abilities:

(Gravelord)

Blinding Terror

Conductive Current

Virulence

Hastened Demise

Simulacrum

Death Siphon

Power of the Dead

(Permafrost)

Gathering Storm

Clean Burn

Ice Armor

Tricks of the Trade

Winter Stillness

Frost Mastery

This build works around causing as much chaos on the battlefield as possible, undermining the enemy as much as possible. As someone who excels at Support classes like the Keeper, it's unfortunate that other than providing enemy debuffs, Sidony offers little ally buffing abilities other than TotT. But anyway, let's take a look at active abilities.

Blizzard+Ice Storm

Blizzard is excellent at shutting down enemies at choke-points and setting up groups of foes for group combos, not to mention synergizing with Frost Mastery, Ice Armor, TotT, and Virulence (if they die while chilled or frozen, though the delay is annoying at times). I've used it once or twice primarily to give myself DR when surrounded by foes or while getting cherry tapped by Marksmen. Plus? It can smash pesky pots no problem! Also the added DoTs from the upgrade are nothing to sneeze at.

Walking Bomb+Virulent

I can't imagine a Necro worth playing without this glorious spell. Moving on.

Horror+Despair

Yes, it's a starting ability, and while it doesn't have the range of Blizzard, it's an area debuff that gives you and your allies some breathing room while leaving enemies open for combo with light DoTs and it synergizes with Blinding Terror, TotT, and Virulence. Plus it looks really badass.

Winter's Grasp

Okay. Here me out. It's a starting power and it's pretty underwhelming. But. It has the same synergies as Blizzard and it can save your or an ally's bacon in a pinch from virtually anywhere without direct line of sight which lets it be used from behind cover. Really, Ice Armor gives WG much more utility that where it starts out.

Flashfire

This spell is nice to have as it synergizes with the same stuff Horror does since it's just a single target fear spell with damage. It's also disappointing that it has no chance to burn enemies despite being a fire spell--I have more reliably set enemies ablaze with my staff than Flashfire. Also! It reliably kills pots in one shot without setting off its cooldown time! Utility! ...Okay, so it's probably a waste of a point better spent elsewhere. Suggestions: upgrade Winter's Grasp; buy Unsullied Victim (because holy butts, a 25% bonus to damage plus bonus Magic); buy Mind Blast/Energy Barrage (because having an eldritch detonator is probably a good thing).

Constructive criticism sought: mainly what alternatives to Flashfire would be best. Ff isn't terrible, but sans actually causing the burning status effect, it's almost certainly a waste of an ability. Still tho, those pots never see it coming, hehe.

You must have experience with using Flashfire, are there no cases where you fear the enemy that's bombed into a pack? For that reason I chose Flashfire on my first runthrough.

I go with: Horror, Flash Fire, Walking Bomb, and either Fade Step or Fade Cloak.

Like you said, Flashfire is kinda... uhh, meh.  I have it there simply as a quick way of deterring a single mob that's coming after me (and to kill pots!), but I'm seriously considering switching it out for the second of Fade Cloak/Step.  I've tried a build with Blizzard, and while it is decently effective, I just plain don't like it.  Winter's Grasp, while certainly useful, has too high of a mana cost for me to feel that it's worth it.

If you are looking for alternatives for WG/FF on your build, I'd probably take either Mind Blast for a detonator, or Fade Cloak to take out those random zealots, etc that want to ignore the tank and chase you around.  I feel like Fade Step probably wouldn't work so well in combination with Blizzard.  Energy Barrage can hit hard, but it's also fairly expensive in terms of mana, and cooldown time, and between Walking Bomb and Blizzard, you will be going through a lot of mana already.

From my limited amount of playing Necro I'd say try Fade Cloak and step on top of Blizzard and Walking Bomb. Your mana pool is barely enough to sustain two high cost spells best accompany that with high bang for your buck spells.

The best way to deal with pots is blizzard.

No no no, this is all wrong. Blizzard should be on RB, Walking Bomb on Y, Winter's on X and Fade Step on B. You're trying to get me killed, aren't you. Mixing up all my buttons.

Seriously, though, I only keep Horror until I get Blizzard. But, Horror is insanely awesome for one reason. Priming, but not casting at the end on 5/5 and watching the end flag spin.

I also find it hard to play without an Evasive. Unless its Routine. Then, who cares?

Unfortunately, they seem to never reliably run towards their allies and usually just bolt in a random direction after Ff, not to mention the panicked effect tends to wear off faster than Horror's for whatever reason. Going to try Mind Blast and see how that works out, I think.

I like Walking Bomb, Winters Grasp, Fade Step, and Blizzard. I feel immortal when I play my Necro, it hits hard and survives really well. Everyone has different playstyles though, that's just how I like my Necro.
