Ah, I'm not bothered about saving Hawke anymore. Either someone will come get Hawke out of the fade, or they'll fight their way out... or Hawke's screwed anyway in the epilogue slides even if you choose them to live.

I just wondered if the novels or comics, which I haven't read any of, offered more on King Alistair since taht's sort of canon.

You did the dark ritual I guess ?

I'm guessing that it was something other than the ritual. Did you make golems? Kill Conner?

How is Hawke screwed? He went to Weisshaupt and there's trouble there, but since we're probably going there next, that isn't necessarily bad.

I don't think it's so much Alistair is happier as a warden than king but more like as a warden he's actually part of the game.  As king he shows up, blah blah blah, he's gone, and that's only if you chose one path, in the other path he's nowhere to be found.

Is drunk Alistair even in the game?

I suspect we'll meet our wardens in the next game, so we may see Alistair potentially having a larger role regardless of his job as long as he's alive. Even if he didn't like the warden, he's probably show up if they were needing help with Weisshaupt.

eh considering the only time we see him is when he has come back to seen that the mages screwed up so bad you can't blame him

He may be happier as a Grey Warden.

But what's better for Fereldan? I certainly think, when hardended, he does a lot more good as King than as a Warden, and that was always my  concern in DA:O.

Well, Anora is a capable ruler and she did most of the ruling for Cailan anyway. The kingdom is not any worse off under her rule, so I don't know if Fereldan cares much who the ruler is as long as they're good.

I read the comics and Alistair is definitely not happy as king and seems too willing to die

As a warden he at least gets to be with his people to actively do what he likes doing, though I'm sure the reality of being a warden destroyed some of his ideations of it.

True, Anora is certainly capable. But I also think she sometimes is too political and seeks power because she believes she deserves it, not because it is best for the naiton. I personally think the marriage of the two is stronger than either one of them alone (at least if Alistair is hardended).

It is better for the country, sure. But if we're talking about Alistair's personal happiness, I doubt that marrying your brother's widow is a good way to achieve it :) Especially when said widow absolutely worships her father, who also happens to be the man you passionately hate.

Alistair as a warden seem depressive...

At least in my world state..even though my warden didnt do anything bad....he went and said she become a Sith.......

Anyone got that one ?? I dont know why would he say that....

The only 'Bad thing' I may have done..would be morrigan ritual....wich saved his ass...and he should be grateful......but nothing else that would warrant what he said...'walk a dark path...did dark things'....

I got that as well when I had him as a Warden. I suspected that it might be because my warden took the power of blood during the quest at the Warden keep with Avernus.

I still don't know why the hell Anora is queen, either with or without Alistair or a male Cousland.  She was married to the king, then he died (they didn't even have a son for her to be regent of).  Therefore, the throne should go to the next blood relative of Maric, which would be Eamon, right?  Whatever, I just never liked her when she betrayed my Warden two times on my DA:O playthrough.

Eamon and Teagan aren't blood relatives to Maric; Maric was an only child. Eamon and Teagan were brothers to Rowan, Maric's wife and Cailen's mother.

So technically while they're related to the late king, they don't have any more royal blood than Anora does.

Also have to remember that Eamon was out of commission when succession became an immediate issue. After his recovery, he admits that he and Teagan could stake a claim for the throne, but doing so would simply appear as a power grab.

OK, but it seems Eamon, Teagan or even a male/female Cousland (the child of a family with a long noble lineage) would have more stake to the throne than Anora  Maybe without the blight there would have been a civil war for the throne?

I got this one as well. I chose to preserve the anvil, have avernus continue research under more morally sound methodsmethods and the DR and now it seems I'm this evil person. >.> granted his approval of me was neutral so I never got to romance him :(

My Mahariel definitely agreed with this.  "You'll marry Anora and like it!  And give the Dalish some land while you're at it, k?"

I have noticed that. Especially if you spare Loghain, 'cause then he's all, "NOPE NOPE NOPE I'M THE KING, OFF WITH HIS HEAD".

Warden Alistair who stayed in a romance with the Hero of Ferelden claims he's "happier than he ever dreamed possible."

Not from what I've seen.

Pretty sure his story ends in the bottle in DA2 for obvious reasons.

From the letter Alistair sends in Trespasser:

"(...)

Regards, King Alistair of Ferelden

Someone, presumably His Majesty, has drawn a stick figure weighed down by an oversized crown at the bottom of the page. "

Yeah...

I have noticed that. Especially if you spare Loghain, 'cause then he's all, "NOPE NOPE NOPE I'M THE KING, OFF WITH HIS HEAD".

Softened Alistair says that too. It's all about wanting Loghain dead.

Anyway, hardening him turned out to be irrelevant in DAI.

Trespasser's epilogue even said Hawke returned to Kirkwall to aid Varric with his rulership, while there is no word on the ally Warden in case Hawke died.
