At the moment on Steam, I can buy Mass Effect 2 for US$5.

I can also then spend AU$10 to buy Bioware Points to buy Shadow Broker which was released over 4 years ago.  And I can't even use the 20% off offer that is currently on the Origin store as it doesn't apply to Bioware points.

The DLC is costing materially more than the game.  Even buying Arrival or Kasumi will set you back more than if you bought the game.

One day, I'll buy Mass Effect 3 and finish off the story line but I want to play the full story and do not feel like being completely screwed out of my money for it.

Unfortunately, this really colours my view of Bioware and I haven't bought any Bioware games since I finished Mass Effect 2 about 3 years ago.  Clearly no one actually cares as the lack of discounts for the PC DLC has been raised multiple times and in multiple forums without actually addressing the issue.

The other gaming companies deal with this issue successfully.  Why is it so hard for Bioware?

Move onto consoles if you actually want DLCs to be on sale. There are times when Xbox Live and PSN Store get DLC sales where they are like 75% off. On Origin, it will always be their default prices unless EA decides to make a sale. I've spent over $100 on both ME2 and ME3 DLCs for both of my platforms(PS3 and PC)and I don't regret it.

In my opinion, I think Bioware itself dealt with the issue quite well with regards to Dragon Age: Origins back in the day.  You could get Origins, all the DLC that came with it and Dragon Age: Awakenings all in one, neat, tidy package (not to mention price...) in the Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition.  And it was available for the 360, the PS AND the PC.  And more often then not, you could get it on SALE through Steam AND Origin.

But since then, I have yet to see Bioware release another 'Ultimate Edition'.  Not for Dragon Age II.  Not for Mass Effect 2.  Or 3.    Surely it can't be that difficult to round up all the story, clothing, weapon/armor related DLCs for these games and package them like they did with DA:O Ultimate Edition (and of course, release them across all platforms for sale at brick-and-mortar stores as well as on Origin.).

But back to your question. Why is it so hard for Bioware?  I think greed and ignorance might play a rather significant role, given the lack of any response whatsoever on these forums from EA/Bioware regarding this topic (probably hoping such topics simply be glossed over or brushed aside), or that Bioware has steadfastly refused to put any of its DLC (or their ridiculous Bioware points) for sale on the PC for over FOUR years.  But that's just my opinion.  YMMV.

That is such a cop-out response.  You do realize there are quite a few gamers (myself included) out there who play these games on the PC for various reasons, either out of choice and/or necessity.  I do own a 360 and a PS3, but I got into Mass Effect via the PC version, before I owned either console.

I prefer playing Mass Effect on a keyboard and mouse, and aside from not being able to take advantage of the DLC sales available on XBL/PSN, my PC outstrips either console in regards to technical capabilities by a significant margin.  I have no desire to purchase these games AGAIN, on a console significantly less capable than my PC, with a sub-optimal (to me) interface because of some contrived sales/legal BS via EA/Bioware/XBL and PSN that allows those who own such consoles to enjoy those discounts, simply so that I may partake in such sales.

You may be feel no regrets with regards to how you spend your money, but I'm sure there are others (of which I include myself) that don't feel that way, and refuse to spend another dollar/euro/pound/etc. on a Bioware product until they seriously reconsider their position with regards to how and to who they price their DLC to (but given their track record I won't hold my breath lest I suffocate).

Installing the DLC doesn't even work on PC anymore so don't bother trying. Seems they don't care at all about old games and breaking them.
