So Sera can wear "human" armor, is this intentional?

So I've noticed that Sera is unable to wear the Dalish Armor, but can wear armor marked as "Human-trained only". Is this something intended by the Devs, or is this a bug?

I think it's intended because when you speak with Sera she is adamant on not considering herself as an Elf (she actually doesn't like Solas at all for his sense of appartenance to the clan).

Maybe Bioware wanted to evidence this by giving her access to armor that is usually restricted to the race (something like the half-elf in D&D for example). However it can also possibly be a bug (both are plausible).

It's because she uses a human female body shape instead of the elven one so the game technically considers her to be human, not an elf.

I really dont think Sera is an elf... she has malformed ears that is all. She cannot use elfy items, only humie items.

Not a bug, she's not elf-trained, meaning she doesn't wear dalish armors for reasons.

WildOrchid is dead on, THIS quote is the correct answer.

All the items say elf/dwarf/etc TRAINED it's not simply the act of being X race, it's being trained by X races. And since Sera grew up surrounded by humans and by her own admission is self taught then she hasn't ever received any training from elves and as such doesn't qualify for elven trained gear.

True. It states "X trained", not "race X".

Until now I never made too much attention to the distinction in the tooltip myself. It's easy to miss it.

I think race restricted armor is daft anyway.

It only really makes sense if said race is really non-humanoid.

Silly shem. You do it *in the other order* as an elf. Otherwise the magic won't trigger.

I don't know but a modder find out that Sera has actually a human female body.

So maybe the game check that feature/parameter/trigger/etc and let the character wear the right outfit for their body.

The training is more a fitting and carrying thing. for instance you have to be trained to ware a corset fof a long time. Dalish armor is licht and well has no shoes Dwarf LOTD armour is well small and about 50 lbs. wareing that realy takes training ask any soldier.

but that being said there are ways to negate restrictions via silverite.

Was the whole "trained" thing just introduced for Sera, or do any other companions have training of a different race than theirs?

Anyway, it makes sense that Sera can't equip elven armor. I mean, what do you think would happen if you gave her some?

Inquisitor: here i have brought you the armor of our people.

Sera: oh hell no. elfy **** doesn't even have SHOES.

Inquisitor: shoes cut you off from the earth...

Sera: i'm going to stick with not getting cut off from my TOES kthxbai.

:P

She's not. Half-elves are humans in Dragon Age. All elven phenotypic traits seem to be completely dominated by human traits.

I thinik this is much much better than the normal system in games, where it's absolutely no problem at all to stuff a Qunari in a Legion of the Dead armor.

You know, a Dwarven armor.

Even though the "trained" aspect actually makes sense when you think about it....I'm still willing to bet that it's a bug. Just like how some Qunari armors appear as the Inquisition PJs.

Don't help Bioware by justifying their bugs! Haha
