You have an option to disable persistant gore.. but PLEASE Bioware or someone, make a way to turn off the over the top fountains that come out of everything.

Is this possible?

sorry if you already know this, but there is an option in-game to turn off persistent blood. It only makes your characters not bloodied after battle, you still get gore while you're fighting, but it's a start.

Hmmm.... it might be possible to make all blood invisible with a simple mod - just change the texture/material, overriding one or two files.

2. Delete "dragon_age_ea_logo.bik"
3. Create new .txt file and rename it to "dragon_age_ea_logo.bik"

You don't need to delete anything: you can set this in the INI file. The setting is obvious (it is called ShowMovies or something similar) and you simply change its value from a 1 to a 0.  If your still stuck I'll post details when I get home.

Ok thanks, you can indeed disable intro movie by going to /Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Settings and editing the DragonAge.ini file. Set DisableIntroMovies=1 and you are done. Before you experiment further with the settings there, back it up, just in case.

I know about the persistent gore toggle. I wouldnt mind that so much if there was a mod to reduce the fountains and over the top amount of blood everything spews... if I wanted excessive gore Id play Age of Conan. lol



Also a certain character at the end in the human intro... the amount of blood pouring out of him and pooling around him just isnt realistic... yes yes, I know its a game, but stuff like this just ruins any sort of immersion.

DA: O - Dark, Adult Themed, High Fantasy consistent with the lore and theme of the prequel books, not to mention - Rated M for Mature.  Sorry but if you don't like it go play Fable II.

I know..you could create a mod that makes enemies spurt butterflies instead. While your at it, why not PG the game even further and instead of weapons you can jump on enemies to "kill" them, eat flowers to spit KO fireballs, eat magic mushrooms to get real big and maybe add a leaf that turns you into a flying raccoon.
I am shocked no one has thought of this yet!!

Seriously though, to each their own. If you want less gore, mod it in.

Your right - I shouldn't do that and I'm not trying to be a jerk, sorry.  But the comment about "if you wanted excessive gore you'd go play Conan" is what I disagree with which is why I suggested Fable.  Because I want excessive gore and other adult themed aspects in my adventure so that is why I bought this.  If someone in the modding community can change that aspect of the game for you then more power to them/you but I really don't want Bioware putting their efforts into something like that when there are existing issues with the game and, more importantly, a Toolset that isn't even available for download yet.

I agree the blood pools are silly and over the top. They don't look too bad from a distance, but in the scene you mentioned, it looks very bad.

The crazy thing is, I have created a few threads on this pre-release and now post-release, Bioware won't comment on it at all.



I don't know why there isn't an option built in.. (Extreme Gore: On and Off) -- Leave on by default. Everyone wins.

To all the people that like blood, good for you, but don't come and post here saying that someone that don't like all that blood is in the wrong side. Why should someone like blood? It's nothing to like about it in real life or in a game. Unless you are playing a game where you are a vampire. I won't go as far to support that the people that like blood in games are kind of detached from reality, which is not a bad thing necessary, but definitely this needs some psychological and psychiatric explanations.

you ceratinly have the right to your opinion and if you dont want the gore you are free to mod it.  I for one love the gore.  Yes, it might seem a bit over the top, but to me thats the theme or style fo the game.  That goes for the graphics quality as well.  I like the way things are.  I even would like to see the pools of blood under a dead body stay instead of dissapearing after a few seconds, and I plan to mod that if possible in the near future.  Again, to me all the blood and gore are an artistic style akin to the movies KIll BILL 1&2...
