I'm curious whether anyone's had any success creating an Asian-looking character. I'm planning to create a female Japanese human-looking character, or at least try to.

My main inquisitor is asian themend (like in all games, where i can do that). She is human, a dual wield rogue. She is called Shinrai (like all my avatars).
Here some pics for reference or inspiration. Maybe you look for something like this. If you have questions, feel free to pm me ![]()

Wow, nicely done. I like the use of the hair in particular. He reminds me of someone, but I can't place him.

So what you're telling me is you always play the same character, called Shinrai...?
I always play "Kelemvor" and create roughly the same look, regardless of the game.
Thanks for the offer of help - I'll contact you if I have any specific questions when I set to work on the character. The Asian features really show in the second from the right on the bottom - the roundness of the face and the flatter shape.

My asian themed girl:
Nice pic! Do you happen to know what skin tone and eye selection you used here?

Mr Miyagi maybe?
Haha. Nope. My first thought is that he looks like an old Asian Cullen.
But he definitely looks like someone else as well.

Yeah, i do
My first Shinrai was a super heroine in the mmorpg City of Heroes/City of Villians (8 years ago? Don't know.). I fell in love with her design on which i spend whole days
. Since then, all my maincharacters in games look just like her (if it is possible) and (if it is possible) get her name ![]()

I'm half-japanese and I tried to base my character on myself, which I managed it (though not as much beard I actually have).

This dude I made just to take some screenshots on how to make an asian character. He looks like one, I hope:

I wonder if DA lore has anything on Thedas' equivalent of "Asia".

Aleithian, the epicanthic eyefold and the flatter nasal profile for Asian women are easily doable. Unfortunately that unretractable maxilla causes asian characters to have something between an overbite and an exaggerated pout. They look great head on, but awful in profile.

Interesting. I'll bear that in mind.

Decided to do an Asian Hawke on a whim. I'm actually impressed with how it turned out.

An interesting question and a tricky one to pin down it seems. There are many cultural elements blended through all of DA's Lore and not all of them are as clear cut as Orlais = French. DA Lore also doesn't seem to hinge much on unified Race = Nationality. As in there doesn't seem to be any countries that are like this country = Black or that country = Asian. Racial distinctions are made more along the lines of human/elf/dwarf/qunari instead of black/white/asian/etc. It seems to take more of a melting pot approaching when it comes to that.
That said much of Thedas is unexplored both in terms of the in game lore and in terms of the places we've been able to visit thus far in Dragon Age games. Thedas only accounts for 7% of the Dragon Age world apparently. The writers and codex entries have certainly hinted at other races and cultures beyond what's currently well known.

My inquisitor is southeast asian. I think the options for racial diversity are pretty good in this game. I have her picture posted in the fem!quisitor thread.

Southeast Asian? Yes.

5/7 of my heroes are attractive, so I wanted to make someone who was similar to Brienne of Tarth. Not pretty, but realistic and proportionate with unique features to make her memorable. She's in desperate need of a hair mod though that has bangs long enough to cover those eyebrows though. >>
EDIT: She has a good profile and nice ears though, I'll say.

Your skin color came out a lot better than mine. Then again my toon's skin tone changes quite a bit on the different 360 lightings. Have to say I'm uber jealous of that profile pic. I redid my quizzie 4 or 5 times because of how bad her profile was.
It's also nicer to see quizzies with rounder/softer features. A lot of the Inquisitor screenshots have the super square and angular features.

Tried making Asian girl.. Finished with something Geyisha'ish (pure white skin etc.)
And yes, I couldn't resist to give her yellow eyes not black, all black was looking not quite pure black in edytor
PS: These hair in ear are killing me! D:
If you tweak the ear just a little. You can eliminate the clipping.
