What I'm about to suggest is blasphemy, but believe it or not, you can survive without Shield Wall. ...as long as you aren't stuck in incompetent PuG after incompetent PuG. Let's break it on down.
Active Abilities:
X - Payback Strike+Sweet Revenge
Y - Counterstrike
B - Shield Bash+Ring the Bell
RB - Walking Fortress+Siege Breaker
Passive Abilities:
(Guardian)
Turn the Bolt
Resilience
Biggest Threat
Turn the Blade
Trust the Steel
Bulwark
(Combined Arms)
It'll Cost You
Deep Reserves
Bear Mauls the Wolves
Flow of Battle
Shield Breaker
Blood Frenzy
Crippling Blows
Unyielding
Payback Strike+Sweet Revenge
Getting Payback Strike with its upgrade is a great boon to start with and sticking with it will reward you throughout your career--short (heh) though it may be.
Counterstrike
Although it has a long cooldown time, Flow of Battle helps mitigate this somewhat as it not only taunts all nearby enemies, but it also knocks enemies on their arses for having the foolish notion of attacking you. It's a good time had by all. Except for your enemies.
Shield Bash+Ring the Bell
Why sprint when you can hurl yourself at the enemy? With RtB, you can clear a room in no time, especially off of even the slightest incline. It also shreds enemy defenses, making Red Templar Commanders much less of a pain to deal with than usual and serves as an Impact combo to punish your foes even more. Great power with great utility and a whipfast cooldown time.
Walking Fortress+Siege Breaker
Unkillable! UNKILLABLE! And if that fails, there's Unyielding. Pop WF before Cs Cs before WF to better your chances when hurling yourself into a mass of nasty beasties. Tell Coniferpuss you said hi!
Edit: Meant the other way around. My mistake. Probably should get more than a few hours of sleep before writing one of these. @_@
