Ah, this please wait screen is goin to be legendary. Everyone who played ME1 and loved it has ME2 right now, pre-ordered or otherwise, and the majority of us are experiencing this. Even outside posters of this thread, every nerdy kid i know is going through this.

It's not a firewall issue. Dev's said it's EA's servers. Bottom line: EA sucks balls. I'll think twice before buying any game with DLC from them in the future.

QFT, seriously those that have not payed for the game are playing WITH dlc.  Meanwhile I can't because I am treated as a criminal because I bought the game.

Same issue... just stuck at waiting. My wife on the other hand who was home sick registered and connected just fine earlier in the day. Guess the lesson of the day is stay home sick if you want to play.

Chalk another one up for stuck at the please wait screen. The kids at EA had this same damn problem when Dragon Age was release. In November. 2 Months ago. Why isn't this already fixed?

ya you can cancel it and play single player... except the extra $ you shoveled out for collectors / DLC is completely wasted since it can't authenticate it so it doesn't let you access it.
