In the Temple of Mythal (yes, that's the spoiler), Cassandra - if you bring her - makes a very nasty little comment. I forget exactly what it is, but it's something along the lines of:

Why did they spend so much time and effort on a temple to nothing?

The comment is extremely tactless, and blatently denies even the possibility of the existence of the Dalish Gods.

My Dalish Elf, unsurprisingly, was EXTREMELY offended. I really, really wanted the possibility for her to reply to Cassandra at that point. And her reply - had I free option to write my own response - would have been something like:

I have been your 'Herald of Andraste' since this all began. I have allowed your people to consider me an icon of their faith. I have acted like an icon of your faith in public. I have never once insulted you or Leliana or Cullen or Josephine for your faith, nor denied the existence of your 'Maker' or your 'Holy Andraste'.

I have stayed quiet even when I heard some of the Mothers in your faith denying the very existence of Shartan. I have stayed quiet while watching your Andrastians dance in the lands that your Holy Andraste gave to my people, in a palace that cost much, much more than this place ever did.

I do not ask you to believe in my Gods, Cassandra. I ask only that you not insult them and deny their existence in the holiest place we Elvhen have left!

The whole thing said in that cold, seemingly calm voice that means that a person has gone through rage and come out the other side. The one that's incredibly dangerous.

... and if Cassandra tries to apologise, the Dalish Elf would say only "Fenedhis!"

Ugh, there are a couple of places in that temple that I really wish a Dalish inquisitor could have spoken up - Blackwall, for instance, refers tot he party as "good Andrastians" when you do the first puzzle, and all I could think was my Inquisitor slowly turning to look at him, raising one eyebrow, and going "There are maximum two good Andrastians here, and I'm not one of them." (My party was Dalish Inquis, Cole, Blackwall, Dorian so IT SEEMED ESPECIALLY OFF.)

I wasn't necessarily picturing that level of unadulterated rage, but then, I didn't get Cassandra's comment, which definitely would have pissed my Inquis right off too! I was just picturing lots and lots of snide sarcasm (as I played a very snarky Inquisitor.)

Yeah. I wanted more chances to get pissy with people. Also, to kick Sera out when after this quest she calls the whole thing "demons and magic." Seriously.

You know what bugged me about the whole Temple of Mythal thing while playing a Dalish elf?  My character repeatedly asking for information on who/what Mythal is.  If I remember correctly, there were at least two instances where Morrigan started talking about Mythal and my character started asking all kinds of basic questions as thought he had never heard of before, all without giving me any opportunity to control what he was saying.  Um, hello?  Dalish elf mage here!  The First of my clan.  I should have known more about Mythal than anyone in the party, except for Solas and maybe Morrigan.

ABSOLUTELY agreed, on the 'asking Morrigan all the time' thing. Another spot where 'asking Morrigan' was totally inappropriate was at the Fen'Harel statue.

The questions aren't necessarily for your Dalish Inquisitor, they are so the player gets information. If you already know what Morrigan's going to say, don't ask them. Or headcannon it that your Dalish does indeed know the answers, but wants to know what Morrigan thinks the answers are.

All good points -if this much attention was put into the game the replay value would be much higher!

I think that's just it, though.  Dialogue should have been different when talking about Mythal with other characters if you're Dalish.

The Dalish Inquisitor needs more opportunities to talk back to Cassandra. This exchange near the beginning of the game has always bothered me.

Cassandra: Do you believe in the Maker?

Lavellan: I believe in elven gods.

Cassandra: Is there no room in your heart for one more?

Do I not get the opportunity to say:

Lavellan: Is there room in yours for the nine of mine?

I understand Cassandra is a true believer, but if she get to proselytize to me, I should be able to respond in kind.

Well, then they could have the Dalish Inquisitor do the infodump. Rather than having Morrigan say "this is Mythal!" and a Dalish elf respond with "...and that is?" it really could have been something like, "Mythal. My clan teaches <insert crap here>" or similar. It wouldn't be the first time the inquisitor's voice is used to clarify something for the player.

There were not many points I felt pulled from the story by something race-specific, but I sure as heck was there. <_< Though yes, we can pretend an elf is just testing Morrigan's answers. It just so easily comes off otherwise.

Yeah I totally agree. When Cass said that I thought: "Pffft...look around you woman. there is more proof of our gods, in this very room, then there are of the maker." But hey what can you do. This kind of thing happens throughout ME3 as well; Shepard is turned into an idiot on numerous occasions just so players who are new to the series can understand what's going on. Personally, I wish games that practice this would stop. Me as a player, should know that there will be things I don't understand if I'm starting with the third game in any series. It just common sense, and having the player character ask questions that have already been answered throughout the previous games is not appealing in dialogue. Actually getting new players invested in the lore should be the main focus, so they'll have an incentive to revisit those previous games to learn more about what's going on.

Personally, I liked that conversation exchange a lot.  It felt less like Cassandra trying to convert the Inquisitor and more of her trying to find a common ground with them.  Actually, I don't remember getting any sort of vibes like that from Cassandra.  Only other time we had any sort of "argument" when it came to religion, was when my Dalish Inquisitor suggested that maybe the Chantry has outlived its use.  All she said was "I disagree." very firmly, I got a 'greatly disapproves' and then by the end of the conversation I had pretty much made all of those approval points back, because I actually kind of liked her suggestions for how to fix the issues with the Chantry.

Actually, the only character I remember who was a complete arse to my Inquisitor about their Dalish beliefs was Sera.  Then again, Sera was the only one who I wasn't on good terms with throughout the game.  I can't really speak about the Temple of Mythal, however, because I took Iron Bull, Dorian and Solas with me.  *shrug*
