I guess I was not paying attention during the initial conversation with Dorian and one way or another, picked the wrong dialog option and ended up not recruiting him.  I have since returned to the Chantry in Redcliffe but he is no longer there (or perhaps not enough time has passed).  Regardless, anybody know if the recruit opportunity arises again or was the first time the only time available to us?

If you just met him for the first time in the Redcliffe Chantry, then you didn't miss the recruit opportunity.  You have to go back to Haven and move the plot along at the War Table.  If you pick the next mage related quest, he'll join at that point.

Hmm i compleated the templars went to redcliff.. nuffin.

Advance the plot. You'll get your chance to recruit him later.
