ME2. 'k so i've notice a few install issues here but not that fit mine. as soon as i put in the first disk I get "Error: switch from current encoding to specified encoding not supparted line 1, column 40 in xml setting."

now looked on the forum but didn't see anything resembling this one. can anyone help. also i did try running the setup.exe manualy right after i put in my password i get an installer has stopped working error.

running:
window 7
intel 3.2 ghz core duo
nvidia 9800gt
about 3 gigs ram
300 gigs free space

i'm willing to try it but it seems like a different issue. mine is having seperate issue. this is happening from the very get go, as soon as i put in the first disk. it's not asking for any files it's just giving me an error. could be a disk issue but i don't wnat to run 10 mile back to town to replace it put i think i picked up the only collectors edition they had.

update to my Issue hopefully this will hep others. i ended up reinstalling windows 7 64bit and bofore i let it update anything including video drivers i installed ME2. it worked!!! now i will install drivers and such and see if i can play the game.



i think there a conflict with a windows update and the installer. i hope someone can use this info.

Having the exact same problem as soon as it goes into autorun, and then I tried going around it by clicking on Setup going to both installation options and get a "Mass Effect 2 Installer has stopped working" message, please let me know if there's a solution other then reinstalling as I don't have the means available. Running Vista 32bit

Is there a bug in the code or whatever that can be replaced. Trying to bring attention to issue that can't even be solved by a patch if we can't get in the game...

I downloaded my copy of ME: 2 through Steam. Running the lancher gave me my game codes, but I didn't get far enough to enter them. The moment ME:2 tries to decompress its files, the launcher crashes.

That sounds like a different issue. This problem is from the physical game DVD's not even allowing for an install due to some problem with an XML setting or something..
