Yes, I know RNG is RNG, but it sure seems like the purples are dropping a lot more frequently this weekend.  Am I just very consistently lucky this weekend, or do you think that Bioware stealth- boosted the loot tables for store chests to throw the community a bone for the issues we've been contending with?

I felt like my luck was pretty good this weekend.  Every other chest had an unique/purple or two in it for me.  Granted, they were usually runes or crappy low ilvl weapons.  Simply fortunate weekend for some of us? Or a hidden buff that ran alongside the weekend challenge event?  Who knows, probably the former.

It's probably RNG, but before this week I had a purple in at most 17% of the chests (22/130). This week, 41% of the chests has a purple (14/34). Granted they're all low uniques like runes and crap, but still it's a bit weird to have so many in such a short buying spree. Then again, it can be just a lucky draw. See what you wanna see in it...

Well, I've seen about 80% of the 1200 gold valued chests drop purples in the last 48 hours.  One, even dropped 2 purples.  Could just be dumb luck.  No complaints, in any event.  Other than the usual crop of bugs, disconnects, etc...;^)

I got 9 purples on saturday so I'd say yes the loot tables were either buffed, or I was disgustingly lucky.

I don't buy it. I've got about 90,000 gold saved up and I'm not spending it until I get 120,000.

I usually always got a purple but they always sucked. But this weekend i been getting tons of items in games, one round i got like 4 or more items and i also been getting better items from chests

I don't thinks so. However, I found a heal on kill ring. Now I know the "drink potion" sound doesn't neccessarily mean that a potion is consumed. That freaked me out in SP.

Agreed, I got a lot of good stuff this weekend. I instantly noticed once the weekend event started. Definitely getting better drops, I wonder if it will stay this way.

Hmm I guess I was the unlucky one. Son of a beach.

Around 20k spent from Friday to Sun night. One superb rune, one shitty unique I lvl 12 axe.

But saying that,I dropped 60k this weekend and got alot of good stuff compared to the 60k+ I dropped a week ago.

Still no unique weapons worth a damn though.

Both my weekend chests had high level purple weapons, 215 hand axe and a 255 mual, 147 bow and a staff that cranks out 145 damage with a superb rune.

 

I've gotten about 8 superb ruins, some rings and a lot more blues (I only buy medium chests not sure if that has anything to do with it)

It may be a placebo effect, but I've noticed more quality stuff overall, even in the white commons. my inqusitor level is 155 if that helps.

I didn't get a single purple the whole weekend. Spent about $35k.

If they buffed the tables it's impossible to tell because a 5% drop rate buffed to 8% might result in 10 purples for you and 0 for me. From that perspective you'll never know if an RNG table is buffed unless you have a ridiculous sample size like 2 million gold or so.

I'm happy you made out so well this weekend.

At least I got like 12 armors? I'm hoping armor you already have can't drop again though or I'm gonna flip my **** since I've gotten approximately 25 of all 12 characters armors.



Edit: the weekend challenge chests had a big boost on them, almost all people who opened them got higher level weapons (19-23) and got at least 1 or more unique weapons.

I lean towards observer bias. They would've made a public statement pointing out the change - as it's pretty requested. They haven't made that statement, so I don't personally think it's been adjusted. That said, I got some high-leveled normal / rare [not unique though] weapons, but it could just be luck.

I did complete the challenges but did not receive any purples, but I did receive a level 21 common staff.  Not purple, but a decent staff still.

 

I had $30K gold saved up and decided to spend it.  Went with medium chests (which I always do) and received a fair number of purple runes, a decent couple of rares, but RNG was actually good to me.  Finally got dat bow: Punched By The Maker.  Holy crap, what a bow... what a bow!  *e-gratz!!*

You're just making connections that are not there (called Apophenia) based on some good luck. With RNG is understandable though because people get all superstitious with it. I have a friend that swears up and down that having the difficulty set to Perilous while opening store chests yields better gear. There's definitely nothing confirmed by BioWare on the matter and I can tell you that I had terrible drops all weekend.

No, purples were not dropping more frequently for me during the weekend. You were just luckier than me...

OPs premise was observer bias hence his point was that our assumptions were true but he was wondering if perhaps other people repeated his experience as well meaning a new normal drop rate RNG was being established. Our answers merely correlated or didn't.

Therefore what you are saying is flawed.

What you should be saying is: "looking for an RNG pattern, what irony".
