this got locked for being in the wrong section understandable so i thought i'd post it up here for a bit of discussion at least the essential parts.

[There is] a
certain mission you get very early in the game where you have to fight
3 YMir mechs at the same time... and on a time limit.

Seriously, [...]? Not only that but there are two spots right at the beginning of
the mission where if you walk by them you get freakin stuck.

i did this mission this morning and i don't recall getting stuck i died 4 times yes but you could vault over and with a sneaky combination of Tactical cloak it was alot easier than that of the previous 3 runs 4th run i took down 2 of three and the 5th i survived killing all three in roughly 4-10 minutes it was suprisingly quick and those things are beast indeed.

this is the opinion of the OP of that now locked thread

This
is basically an impossible mission on hardcore/insanity, probably even
if you saved every heavy weapons ammo from the beginning of them game
you are screwed if you try to do this mission any time even close to
when it becomes available to you. (think it was level 6 for me).

personally i can see why they'd get frustrated especially if they had been playing for 7 hours straight but hey it was a nice challenging mission though i felt robbed as all i got out of it was Medigel i went seaking an SMG -.-

discuss has anyone done that yet?

it's the cache you recieve from Aria on Omega.

Anyone else comment about this? Makes me curious now... :)

On Normal, I managed to save 10 crates out of 20 by being very reckless, and with a high-level char. I think it says something about its difficulty. The mechs just keep shooting the crates until you drop one of them, then the next one...

I was thinking of trying with the Anti-Materiel Rifle/Assassination Cloak/Infiltrator class bonus/maxed Disruptor ammo, much later in the game. Theoretically it's the perfect weapon against them.

yeah the cloak helps alot i'd advise highly if you're plannign on tackling early you be an inf.

I mean on normal i mnaged to save 9 almost 11 but one took longer than i'd of liked

Edit:
i mean it's difficult definately for an early character but it's not impossible

I don't think you have to attack them all at the same time. When I did it on Veteran, I stayed a reasonable distance away from them and when I shot one, only that one started attacking me. The other two continued destroying the crates. You can also tell your teammates to attack a specific target, so they don't accidentally aggro the other two mechs (if that is what's happening).

I imagine that you can aggro all of them right away to save the most crates, but then you'd have a hell of a fight. I only got seven crates doing it the other way.

Well, I've managed to take them all down quite quick with the Cain heavy weapon... but that wipes out most of the crates, too.

yeah i didn't have that at the time nor did i have my blackstorm heavy weapon because for some raisin, probably flooded the night of release, i couldn't activate them until around 7 am tuesday morning and i did that i did that mission

i my self pulled them individually.

I thought that what little bit of loot they had was vastly insufficient for what you had to do

12/20 crates (ick!) on Veteran, but that was after I got the Particle Beam from Horizon.

Would probably be even easier if I had waited to pick up Tali, who hopefully has not forgotten how to hack mechanical enemies.

by the way its possible to do this in a much easier way. Once you get the mech's attention it will stay on you. So just run and ****** off all 3 then take cover and whittle them down. My record was 17 on veteran, the fight wasn't so bad but I like to race and see how many crates i can save :D.

Overload helped (definitely went with Garrus and Miranda to do it).

Taking on all three at once is pretty ballsy, what with the missiles that dislocate your cover and the fact that they always flank your cover. Were you a Sentinel by any chance? I have to imagine my adept would get cut to pieces.

I took them all out early in the game with the hand cannon and warp ammo.. Just have your team mates all attack the same one and try and head shoot the mech as much as possible.
