The flirting minus grab-ass? Not at all. It's a social event (a ball for nobles), Cullen is standing alone, he is relatively good looking and stands out (not wearing a mask, used to be a Templar, from Ferelden), so I'm not surprised that he's being hit on by multiple women. I'm really just more surprised that Leliana and Josephine are not being hit on actually.

Call it a gender double standard if you want, but that's just my natural reaction after growing up in a society which very clearly treats genders differently, especially when it comes to socializing/dating. 

 

Am I saying it's okay to grab a man's ass but not a woman's? No. But based on my experiences a man is less likely to mind (especially if he is heterosexual and is being grabbed by a woman) than a woman. It's still an uncomfortable situation 99% of the time but a guy would probably just shrug it off and walk away.

Its also a form of sexism to think along the lines : women are mentally weaker than men ,  men can shrug off advances. Go out for a night out in a big city if your by yourself and walk into a group of drunk women , i can assure what happened to cullen would happen to you if they were attracted to you.

 

We seem to be at a stage where we want women to be equally represented as men but not treated the same in video games. Men can be beaten to a pulp / emotionally abuse / verbally abused / etc and noone bats an eye , but yet we put a woman in a slightly compromising situation... 10 articles on the Verge of how your game promotes the degradation of women. But noone says anything when its on other media . Don't see much complaining about women's portrayal in RAP videos , or movie/tv scenes. Why can Dev's not go into mature content like mainstream in other media without some armchair warrior crusade rising up at the portrayal of women in gaming.

I guess it would be cool to have an option if you were (in the process of) romancing Cullen to have some sort of paragon/renegade interrupt after the grab-ass incident.

 

Although if they inserted such an interrupt it should definitely decrease your approval by the Orlesian nobles   .

It felt really wrong and as someone who isn't much of a fan of Cullen, I really wanted to rescue him from all the inappropriate touchings from the women and men alike.  

 

I'm really surprised more aren't outraged over it.  I've seen people throw a fit you can punch Solas and Dorian, but not Sera or Vivienne. Cullen gets molested by multiple people, again, men and women alike, and it's okay. Perhaps if it where only the gay men grabbing Cullen's butt, there would be more outage?

 

Maybe if Dorian or Iron Bull grabbed male Inquisitor's butt in an attempt to initiate flirting with him when male inquisitor made no intentions, there would have been outrage. Only then would it suddenly be wrong to touch a man's butt while flirting.

Just imagine if Dorian had grabbed your characters butt and automatically firlited with the male characters without any input. Also the hate Zevran gets for hitting on the males is verily bad too for the same thing.

I've been lurking for a while but I only read threads that interested me, so I didn't notice, no. I can only speak for myself though, and while I personally didn't like Anders' advances, I'm not uptight enough to ****** about it here. As for Dorian, the difference between Anders and what you just suggested is the former doesn't happen without your input. You can tell Anders no and react when he starts sending you signals however you wish. You can even avoid it by simply not being very nice to him until after the mission with him in the beginning.

 

Dorian just grabbing my ass and me not being able to react negatively forces something on me as the player, and gay or not, that is bullshit.

Not everything has to be safe and not hurt someones feelings . Dev's are not campaigning for President. If they have an interesting story they should write it. Don't like it? Don't buy it. It doesn't force itself on you , and feeling insulted for others is dumb.

 

I'm a straight male and i have no issue with LGBT characters because its what the writter wanted its his creation , noone is forcing me to buy it. If i felt neglected i'd create or support someone else to make it.

And this would be the same with what Cullen went threw sent he can't speak out in fear of him getting low approval from the court. This is somthing that is what people that use SJW as a insult don't understand. This is just like one of those type of scenarios, but yes I do know I could avoid Anders firlting automatically firiting with me. Their was a huge **** storm over that stuff which straight males hated of course that they couldn't avoid it ect.
