Yes, I know, it's presumptious of me to use "we", please, correct me if I'm wrong about why you use it. ![]()
Anyway, I've given some thought as to why you disable the UI in the game, and there's three types of people disabling the UI.
A) They disable it for the sake of immersion, they don't want to have the UI in the game unless when necessary.
B )They disable it to take a screenshot, don't want the UI ruining it, no?
C) It's a little bit of both (like for me), they don't want the UI when running around and wants to take screenshots both in combat and out of it.
Currently, the UI is disabled in the interface option, with an always on, contextual and always off setting.
Now, the contextual doesn't seem to work for me, all it removes is the portraits on the left, which doesn't seem to me to work for either those wanting immersion or those wanting to take a screenshot.
Also, it doesn't work IF you want no UI during combat (crazy people.
) or for taking an action-shot.
This leaves always on and always off.
And right now, to change the setting for this you need to go into the menu, click 'interface', change from one setting to the other, confirm the change, and then exit the menu.
That's a lot of stuff to do to make this simple change. Also, it can go wrong. It's all to easy to click through the change too quickly and have yourself NOT confirm the changes (by hitting escape, for instance) when going out of the interface option, leaving you to do it all over again...and to add to it, when you have changed it from one to the other you then have to go back and change it all back.
My suggestion is to have this toggleable via a key. Say 'k' or 'l' or...whatever the player chooses, really. This works for everyone at any time, unlike the contextual setting. It's easy to change back and forth, unlike the always on and always off...I see no downside to it. ![]()
For the groups mentioned above it'll be good:
A ) Well I don't need the UI right now, I'll click it off. Oh right, now I need it, I'll click it on.
B ) Ohhh...that's a good shot! I'll pause and click the UI off. Ah, good shot, now I'll click the UI on and unpause.
C) As above.
Just my take on it, any yays or nays? ![]()
