going to try a Nightmare run with an reaver, what race do benefit more for a reaver?

I can see how dwarf and elf having advantige in extra resistens but how about horn qunari and the extra attack values of their helmets?.

Also don't forget that Qunari have a 25% resistance to melee. This means its a good idea to use qunari for tank and not off tank because off tank doesn't take the brunt of the melee attacks and should be geared toward flanking and disabling melee enemies. I think you're on the right track and would go elf or dwarf. If I had to pick I would say elf, but the slight RP in me is telling me that just wouldn't work for an elf to go 2H Reaver. Don't know if you're going 2H or S&S. Either way, I'd pick elf or dwarf. Leaning toward Dwarf though; just makes more sense.

I'm struggling with the same question.  I tried out nightmare with a Qunari and Human during the prologue with 2-handed.  The Qunari melee defense certainly helped a lot, and I'm sure the vitaar bonuses will help a lot with attack, but I'm having a tough time liking a Qunari character.  For me, playing one feels a little awkward and stilted.

The racial bonuses are handy but even on Nightmare, they aren't going to make or break the game.  Play the race that feels right to you.

It doesn't make much sense thematically, but probably an elf with their built in 25% resistance to ranged damage.  2H Warriors have plenty of ways to mitigate and avoid melee damage, with block and slash and lots of AoE incapacitates and knockbacks at melee range, but archers will pick you apart.  Against ranged opponents is where a 2H Warrior needs the most help.

any race is fine. Just remember to get the W&S passives.

Any race can make it work, but only the elf can make it look ridiculous.

Seriously, those teeny weeny noodle arms swinging a war hammer?  It's like a young child with a plastic golf club.

I like Human for a 2H Reaver, since the extra skill point helps you link up the passive skills that really make the build hum faster.
