Don't live in the US, but not planning on staying in my home country either (The Netherlands)

My girlfriend is Thai, we're intending on living in Thailand in the future.

I love traveling to other places, and I could foresee myself living in another country for several months or even a couple years, but the US will always be my home. I can't imagine becoming an expat and moving to another country permanently.

Sorry Kaizoku some of this is true but this is mostly false.

I suppose you're wrong. I watch/read lots of news from different factions.

North Korea was a joke though.

Grew up in Denmark, currently live in Denmark, but have moved all over in my time - and I'll tell you, leaving your home country is severely overrated. If I was a 'murican, I probably wouldn't. Unless it really sucked.

True story:

Texas.

Guy driving home with his 2 young sons.  Can't remember age, but >13. Car breaks down a ways from home.  They are out pushing the car to make it the rest of the way.  Drunk driver rear ends the car and kills both of his sons.  Guy goes home, get his gun, comes back to the scene, kill the drunk driver.  Jury finds the guy innocent.

Texas.

My feeling is the U.S. is the country of extremes, so they're good with high execution base concept things like home improvement, idealistic romance, etc where the concept is straightforward and it's dependent mostly on execution. They'll execute that thing until there's nothing left.

You have no Idea what is the country of extremes. Come to Pakistan and people will show you.

If you think you're going to escape dumb people by going somewhere else in the world...

I'm pretty certain our country is on the wrong track, but most of the rest of the world also sucks. Much of Europe is also suffering economically, their politics are also extremely moronic and corrupt, and there is a 5% chance Russians will suddenly "liberate" whatever city you're in. As for Russia their economy also sucks, driving is suicidal (see Russian dashcam videos), and I've spent so long hating the commie menace that it would be weird to live there.

Canada? Nothing but ice and moose there.

Rest of the world? All sorts of awful things ranging from giant spiders to roaming warlords.

Then again if anybody wanted to give me millions of dollars to live their I'd change my opinion.

QFT.

why?

Overall, compared to my home country, there is a greater amount of economic freedom, lower taxation, higher quality of healthcare, and more space, among other things.

You're implying Europe is the worst part of the world to live in. That's... absurd, to be honest.

Don't be silly, I was not implying that Europe is the absolute worst place to live in the world.  The point I am trying to make is that some who have never been there seem to romanticize (for lack of a better word) Europe as some sort of over-glorified promised land.  Like others have written, it's really not better than the USA.

Paris was a dump outside of main tourists centers and famous streets.

I've been there. The City wasn't that attractive outside those famous places. The Metro was leaking (dem water drops) just like it's some Chinese metro or something.

As someone who has been to Paris more times than I care to remember, this is quite an accurate description of that city.

OH You watch the news? Oh ok then mate sure, I guess that makes you qualified to make an extremely generalising false statement. It's blindingly obvious to me that you'd just made up a lot of it.

I actually know how screwed up the world is. About Asia, Europe and America. Which part of my comment violated you?

Well the most painfully incorrect ones;

Switzerland, economic stagnation.

Russia and Brazil, massive economic problems? On the contrary, they are both BRIC nations both of whose economies are growing exponentially.

Also implying that its better to go to Arabia than anywhere in Europe? HAHAHAH good luck with that.

I don't like moving around a lot.

I'd only migrate if it were massively better elsewhere, or there was no choice in the matter.

That's not what I got from reading your post. Apologies.

Brazil's economic growth has stagnated significantly over 2014. Russia is being strangled by the sanctions imposed against it, too.

German social problems tend to be severely exaggerated by the news.

As a African American, i don't think I can leave and expect to be treated nearly as well abroad. The stories coming out from around the world in terms of racism and racial cruelty are just to frightening. I suppose in the Caribbean Islands I wouldn't stick out as much, and the setting is prettier, but the quality of life for natives let alone a foreign black person is likely not going to be all that great. Top it off considering how hard it is for the poor to advance in America (such as getting a high quality education, and getting a good job based on it.) I doubt even in developed countries (Germany, Australia, Japan,  or England ect ect) I'd fare any better than in America, though I'd try if it really came down to it... Language Barriers is another issue altogether.

I'm not from the USA but I would never want to live there. Go there on a vacation, sure, but nothing beyond that. Too many morons. Not that we're lacking those here either, but there they are more likely to have firearms, as evidenced by some of the posts in this thread. That said, I don't know whether I'll stay in the Netherlands. Things seem to have been in decline here as well. I thought I would move to New Zealand, but after spending six months there I'm not sure anymore. The country was absolutely beautiful and the people very nice, but I loathed the cities. Unless I go live on a sheep farm that is where I would end up spending the most time, so... and being the "foreigner" was also an odd experience. Not sure whether I want to become one permanently.
